Ann - did you know you can order personalized M&M's??? In the school colors & have her name or congrats or whatever & Class of '08 printed on them...??? altho may be too late...not sure what the turn around time is...already have it in my calendar for Ryan's grad next year

we are taking DMIL for BD dinner tonite...yesterday was her actual BD; but what do you all think...DH & I didn't think he'd be home in time to go with other family members last night...then last minuete decided he would be; so i called DSIL & left a msg asking where & what time....she emails me back - they're going to a japanese restaurant. which is fine, but we (DH, DS or myself) do not care for japanese food - so i tell her we probably won't go....(now they weren't expecting us anyway - so we were really okay that they were going for japanese) BUT - she emails me back & says "I know you're not fond of japanese food, but that's our nationality & my mom's favorite food". I'm like WTH ? i sure wasn't upset or angry or wanting or expecting them to change the restaurant just because we were planning to go now...so not really sure where that came from & it's not just me that doesn't care for japanese - no one in our family does. So DH emails me back after i tell him where they're going & he says to tell them we'll pass since WE (not just me) don't do japanase food....i just forwarded it to her & got an 'okay' reply.
oh well.....i'm done with my rant - thanks for being my listening board!!!

I say just forget it

You weren't expecting to go anyway so they chose what suited them.

No big deal since you were planning on celebrating tonight.

Life is too short to worry about that kind of stuff.

My mother had an interesting experience today.

She noticed that there was no traffic going down her road today and was sitting on the closed in front porch having a look.

Tons of police cars everywhere down the road.

She catches wind of the fact that the police are hunting for someone

So I tell her make sure the doors are locked since she runs a business from her home and she almost never locks her backyard doors.

She decided to go next door and tell the young mom there that she should maybe lock her doors too.

Their driveways adjoin. My mom heads out and is halfway cross her drive behind her car when this huge dog comes around the corner of the house

Right behind the dog are 3 police officers with rifles in their hands

They tell her they are the police to which she replies, um, yup I think I can see that

They tell her to go back inside and lock her doors and if she sees a guy about her height with a red plaid shirt and one shoe to call 911

Okkkaayyy. Don't you think maybe the police should have gone around and warned the residents to lock their doors and stay inside.

I heard they caught one guy but then on Alex's scanner we heard they were searching for someone else (still???) just around the corner from my mom's house.

Hi everyone!

Betsy - I hope your surgery went well...I've been thinking of you today.

Robin - that IS scary! I would be locking my door for sure! I hope they catch him quickly.

TW - you're SO nice to scan that stuff for Betsy. Tom and I were going to Hawaii for our 25th, but decided on the Disney cruise instead.

CADZ - I did know about the M&M's and thought about it. Since I'm catering her reception (appetizers for 50) along with her graduation check, I figured that was enough expense. Plus - they had a HUGE sale on M&M's at my grocery store - 4lbs for $4.38. You can't beat that - it was a buy-one-get-one!

Hi DU - are you on or off work for the weekend? How are your parents?

Not much happening here. DH and I are having everyone over for a big ice-cream social. Last night I made homemade butterscotch topping. It's pretty good - not fabulous, but I'm not a huge butterscotch fan. I'll make a peanutbutter fudge topping & brownies tomorrow. We're having that plus all the usual stuff (reeses, butterfinger, nuts, oreos, strawberries, pineapple sauce, bananas and more). Looking forward to it!

oh i just have to tell you all that dinner with DMIL was very good! And we asked her how dinner the night before was....her answer...."Not that good"....then she proceeds to tell us that she prefers this other Japanese restaurant here in Gilroy - but it wasn't her choice & the girls (my SIL's) were buying so she couldn't say anything.....

CADZ - I'm available, but I think by the time I mailed the food to you it would be a lovely shade of green....is green the school colors? I made another 30 of the treat boxes, so I have only 40 more left!

TW - sorry your team lost last night. I'm not a hockey fan, so I didn't know there were play-offs right now. There's not much call for hockey in Florida!

DU - I hope you enjoy your weekend off. You have a really unusual work schedule. If they ever have a "Bring an on-line total stranger/friend" day at work....I'd love to follow you around for a day!

Robin - how is your mother now? That is SO scary....after my step-sister's murder at her front door - I always keep the doors locked and NEVER open to a stranger!

Betsy - I hope you're feeling better...you've been on my mind today!

Well, most everything is ready - the brownies just came out of the oven...I use the recipe from the 1962 Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. My dad gave me my mother's cook books - I LOVE vintage recipes!

Anyway, the only thing I have to do when everyone arrives is heat the Butterscotch sauce and make the peanut butter fudge sauce (a mix of peanut butter & syrup heated up). The Nuts, Oreos, Reeses & Butterfingers are all crushed up and in the bowls - along with the other goodies that just needed emptying. Bowls, spoons & napkins are out and the table leafs are in so we can seat a dozen at the table. Now all we need is the ice cream.....

DH called and he's going to take me to lunch so I better hop in the rain locker!

I've been working on my Magicmeets staff assignments...

it's gonna be weird but good...having friends with me doesn't give me time to interact with other folks at the meet. I'm all by my lonesome this trip.
