Once upon a time....in a land far to the North....where the candy canes always sparkle....

a meeting of Santa's Reindeer was supposed to be starting.....

Kim-Deer, the Chair-Deer was upset because the other Deers were tardy....

HollyAnn-Deer and Tom-Deer were still putting on the feedbag at the Reindeer Breakfast Buffet,

DalPal-Deer was letting her Grand-Bucks and Grand-Does play ring toss on her antlers....

Cruisin' - :boat: -Deer was at the North Pole Post Office sending her ornamnet exchange....

Wendy-Deer was burning some Christmas song CD's....

PrincessaC-Deer was busy decorating a tree for some elfkins....

LuckyMommyx2-Deer was drying some lingerie that were clothepinned to her antlers....

Kim-Deer could only guess what Papa-Deer was up to....

But she knew that all the Reindeer HAD to show up soon....

Santa was attending this meeting!!!

WELL! Kim-Deer was not awarded "The Order of the Golden Horn" because she has a cute nose!

Kim-Deer is a smart Reindeer!

So, she flips on the North Pole Intercom and announces "Attention All Sleigh Reindeer! Santa Requests your presence at the Reindeer Meeting NOW!!

I repeat: NOW!"

with that, all the Reindeer hurried, scurried and flew to the meeting.....

DalPal-Deer with Rings on her antlers......

HollyAnn-Deer and Tom-Deer with oats in their whiskers....

Cruisin' ! - :boat: - Deer with a postage stamp on her tongue...

Wendy-Deer had CD's in her hooves...

PrincessaC-Deer had a bad case of static cling from the icicles she was throwing on the tree ...Santa's Beard kept pointing at her...

LuckyMomyx2-Deer had "Monday", "Tuesday" & "Thursday" skivvies still on her antlers....

Papa-Deer entered combing his hair........

Kim-Deer called the meeting to order.

The Reindeer paid attention for a minute....until Papa-Deer asked where Santa was....

Kim-Deer shot him an evil-eye....and said "Santa will be here shortly....now pay attention...Santa wants our advice!"

All the Reindeer started wondering out loud about what it could be that Santa wanted advice on...when lo & behold....the Big Man entered with a "HO HO HO!!"

Naturally....some of the Reindeer started brown-nosing with Santa....but...we'll row :boat: past that part....

Anyway, Santa talked about the flght path for Christmas Day....

he told everyone that Kim-Deer was in chrage of pairing the Sleigh teams this year....

and then....he told the assembled group he needed some advice....

Santa wanted to know if the Reindeer could go in reverse!

All the Reindeer went wide eyed at the thought!

Never before in all the Christmases past had any Sleigh team EVER needed to back up!

Santa explained...."Well my Deers, with some of these new houses, there doesn't seem to be as much room for a good take-off like in the past....so, I was thinking....if we had a reverse....we could back the sleigh up to the edge of the roof to give us the room we need for a GREAT takeoff!"

At first, the Reindeer were offended....

to a Deer,, each believed every take-off was a GREAT take-off....

but Santa looked so serious.....that they put their antlers together to see what ideas they could come up with....

DalPal-Deer suggested a "back-up" signal that went "BEEP BEEP" so the Reindeer would know to go in reverse....

Santa pooh-poohed that idea saying the "BEEP BEEP" might wake the children....

HollyAnn-Deer suggested the 2 Reindeer in the lead just say "Back up"....

Santa nixed that idea saying it had to be like everything else his Dear Deers did...it had to be teamwork.....

Cruisin' - :boat: -Deer thouht maybe a bell tinkling woud work...but Santa quickly pointed out that the Sleigh was covered in Jingle Bells...

Papa-Deer thought and thought....and finally...shyly raised one hoof...

"Yes Papa-Deer?" Santa asked.....

"what if we had a Reindeer rein on our leg? Then ....if you wanted us to back up....you just pull on that rein.... "

Santa thought and thought about this idea....

and then he said.....in a voice somewhat like Brer_Papa's.....

"My Deers, have I ever pulled your leg?"

Lots of laughs....lots of good felowship....plenty of caring and wishing each other well....

the coolest thread on the whole board IMHO......

Evening Brer_Papa.

It is hard to believe that we are turning page 500 very soon.

It was only in March that we turned page 150.

Wasn't that a great party

I agree with you that this is the best thread on the whole board. ::yes::

Lots of wonderful caring people hang out here. Willing to laugh with you and cry with you too if necessary.

A quiet space away from the sometimes mean and nasty stuff that goes on all around it.

What more could we want???

500 pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Betsy, I'm still here. You're making me WISH I was in WDW though. ;)

I tried to get on here last night, but my brother called, and we talked for 5-1/2 HOURS!!! :scared1:  :hyper2: I have been paying for that mistake ALL day! :headache:

Need to do some cathin' up. ;)

ETA: Just how many smilies CAN we include?

No you actually have 10 because I did edit it because I thought you had 11 when in fact you do have 10 smilies :earboy2: (catch all of that :D )

I missed you last night, Kim.

Did you enjoy your "visit" with your brother?

LOL, you're much more alert than I am! ::yes::

Oh yes, I really did enjoy talking with my brother, although a bit too long (he called to talk to my DS originally, who wasn't home). He's the baby, 12 years younger than I, and I'm really proud that he & I are so close and able to talk so well with each other. He & his DW are expecting their 2nd child, a boy, ANY DAY now!!!! I'll be an Aunt again. :cool1: :cloud9:

I have 2 nieces and 3 nephews ranging in age from soon to be 28 to 12.

The 28 year old and the 12 year old are brothers, with the same parents, no siblings in between.

Niece 17, next week and another 14 and a nephew that is 13.

No kids on my husband's side except for our two.

How many nieces and nephews do you have?

People just don't seem to understand that DIS time is sacred time ::yes::

Not enough, with only 2 brothers. One nephew, 11yo, from middle-child bro, and one niece, 3yo, (my Goddaughter) from baby bro. I have a LOT that I inherited from husband, though. Not that I don't count those adults/kids as nieces & nephews, but I CAN'T count them, there's so many, and quite a few are far away. I do think I have met all but one of them though, and we'll probably never meet that one. :(

Sacred time, you bet! I TRIED and TRIED to get him to go to sleep, but he's a little on edge I think, waiting for the baby, and just getting their new house in September. He'll be fine, I know, but he's a little scared, I think, since his DW will be off for probably 3 months (starting next week, baby or not), and he has a new, higher mortgage payment during a slow season, work-wise, for him. They did it before, they'll do it again. ;)

You will have to let us know when the baby arrives. Babies are so much as fun, especially when they live at someone else's house ;)

Just got done doing the boyfriend "run". There and back safely once again.

Alex was home when I got back. He went to the semi-formal dance tonight at his girlfriend's school.

Now everyone is home and in for the night.

Who ELSE would I tell??? ;)

Glad everyone's safe & secure by you tonight. Any pics of Alex from tonight? (My nephew's name is Alex also) ;)

Big day tomorrow here. I've gotta start making cupcakes and banana muffins for DD's party on Tuesday, BD on Wednesday, and her being snack helper at school the whole week! WHAT was I thinking? Another batch of cupcakes on Monday to take on Wednesday. Thankfully, I have some fill-in snacks for the other days of next week. I just remembered, I have to refrigerate the juice boxes for all those snack days. Since she's having a co-BD bowling party with another classmate, I have already wrapped all of their presents, which amounted to about 15 presents total. (I tend to overdo) DD is taking goodie bags to both the party, and to school the following day....total treat bags = 29 (again, I overdo).

WHY do our kids HAVE to grow up??

You're right Robin, babies are great! If they'd only stay that way.
*SIGH*
