Hi everyone,

Checking in a bit late today, but I found a free moment, so...

I had a SUPER day yesterday! I did 30 minutes of Tae Bo, then 30 minutes of yoga AND some crunches just because! Woo hoo!!!

Reading posts like Bicker's are so inspiring - exercise isn't something you do because you HAVE TO, it's something you do because it's just part of your life. That is so cool! Someday, I hope to have daily exercise be second nature...

For now, I just keep plugging away. I like Ohiominnie's "distraction" technique for the treadmill - and you get to see some great movies!

Hope everyone else is having a healthy, active weekend. I have a harder time on weekends because everything is so higgledy-piggledy around here. We'll see how I do - with all of you for support, how can I miss?

Thanks again, everyone - tell me what you did for exercise yesterday. You inspire me!!!

Daisy;)

I did! I did 40 minutes of pilates and 30 minutes of step areobics with free weights. I moved up to a 3 pound free weight instead of the 1 pound weights I had been using. My arms a bit tired today.

I did, I did! :)

Yesterday I did lunges, squats and plies (sp?). I increased the weight on my hand weights and today I am feeling great, like I really worked my leg/butt muscles good! Then I did crunches and then went rollerblading for an hour. It was a great workout!

I calculated something yetserday - I've done 6 weeks of weight training since ohMom sent me a weigh training challenge that she photo copied from a magazine. Since I started this routine (It has really been 8 weeks but I went on vacation 2 weeks and did not lift weights) I have seen dramatic changes in my body composition. My arms are more defined now than they have been in my entire life. I am anxious to see how things will shape up in another 6 weeks.

So if you are thinking about adding resistance training to your workout, DO IT! I started out light and have gradually been adding more weight as I feel my body is ready for it. WOW! The only equipment I have are two adjustable hand weights that hold a total of 20 pounds each. Amazing what a difference using them routinely can make!

This is me on June 28th. :) http://www.rossandkaren.org/karen_bicep.jpg
Not the greatest picture...but they are shaping up!

Holy cow, TigH!!!:earseek:

You look completely fabulous!!! Any chance you could pass along that weight training challenge you got from OhMom? If I can look even close to that, I'd be totally psyched!

Congratulations, and keep up the GREAT work!

Daisy;)

Wow Karen! I have to reiterate what I said earlier: You are my idol! You look GREAT! I don't work out at a gym, I just work out at home, what are you doing to look that great? Do you work out at a gym? I have just been using free weight dumb bells while I do my step. I had started out last week with 1 pound but moved up to 3 pounds each hand. I would love that challange to if its something I can do at home!

I did WATP tape with the weights for the three mile walk and also did an ab workout from the Firm. It is so encouraging to see other's post on their workouts. It keeps me motivated!

You guys have been busy! Way to go! I walked 1 mile on the treadmill. Only my 3rd day but it seemed much easier to do.

Keep up the good work!

Made my routine, and they are really becoming routine. The desire grows when I am contiually going.

Karen - i'm soooo happy you shared your hulk picture with everyone!! you look soooooooo good and strong!!!!!

yesterday I was going to have a quick brisk dog walk but it was raining! So instead I did my library 40 min Yoga Crunch fat-burning workout! That was all I had time for before the mega-garage sale began!!! I was proud that I didn't blow off my exercising on garage sale days this week (3) as I probably would've done in the past! I just got up early ;)

I did get my 40 min. of treadmilling in yesterday. I'm taking today off and going to go for crunches, lunges and squats tomorrow then start back on the treadmill on Monday. Keep up all the great exercising.:D

I did a 2-mile WATP and 10 more minutes of weights (psst - thanks, Karen and you look FABULOUS!!!!!)

Thanks for the compliments! :)

I am just using my adjustable hand weights at home. The workout challenge ohMom (Molli) sent me was from an old Shape magazine she had. I had been working one body part (pretty unenthusiastically) every day and had NO ambition to move up to training 2 or more parts a day. Then Molli sent me this challenge that has a modified (tough!) push up, then triceps/shoulders for the first workout, then another day of different routines, then a third day of another routine (so each day you work a different body part, which allows the body part you worked the day before to rest!) I couldn't refuse her challenge, and THANKS TO MOLLI I have been training like a fiend and feel GREAT!!!!!!!

Check out http://www.muscleandfitnesshers.com/hers/062502/strength_train.html Muscle and Fitness Hers for some training ideas/tips.

I started out light with the weights until I felt like I had reached a point where I could add more. It has taken time and patience! It feels like I have been working out longer than I have, but I guess I just have NO patience when it comes to wanting to see results! ha ha! I have also modified my diet to include more protein and I am eating carbs like brown rice or multigrain (hot) cereal. The Muscle and Fitness and Muscle and Fitness Hers magazines have so much great information. I lost my weight with WW, but now I am using the guidelines in M&F for eating to help me increase my muscle mass and decrease my body fat. This is the end of my first week of eating this way and my arms are really leaner and there is something going on with my "pouch" under my belly button (like it's GOING away!!!) ;) Sorry to ramble on so much.

Right now I feel like living proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. There have been days I have wanted to just forget it and head out for nachos and margaritas. I can still do that on my scheduled cheat day. I have found a way to modify my diet to support my tastebuds and keep me feeling satisfied while I am fueling my body and I love it!
