Who else was NOT impressed with the planning DVD?

I did not like it as well either. I think the shows on Travel channel show more about Disney. I sent this new one to my family. They will be going first time with us this May. They didn't get a good view or feel for the way Disney is magic. They didn't show the rides as much or the fun with the characters. I like it a lot better when they have visitors tell what they like then show the ride.

DITTO!!!!!

At least I'm not alone :earsboy:

I was very disappointed with the lack of Disney "feel good"---- NO MAGIC

The color scheme, "group" hosts and pace of the DVD all left me with a flat empty feeling-
not the usual warmth and excitement I get from the older planning videos
or Travel Channel Shows-

Good thing I've got them on video :cool1:

I was soo dissappointed. It didn't have the magic that i go to WDW for. A neighbor was over yesterday, and just booked a last minute, first time trip for her family. I gave her the new video to keep but then I grabbed an older version for her to borrow too, so they can actually get excited about the magic. But I dont want the new dvd back.

I agree with the majority here! I was not once moved to tears! :guilty: Last years version was much more exciting! :)

I will admit I am relieved that others were not impressed with this years CD! I was afraid it was just me! I never even made DH watch it and I always make him watch it before we leave! :confused3

Ugh...

Just watched it last night - what were they THINKING? It is horrible. The intentional 'jerking' of the camera was completely unaccepable. It actually made my wife sea-sick. Dave is funny - other than that, it has no redeeming qualities.

They could have dumped the old 'Tip-For-Today!' infomercials on a DVD and it would have been much better.

My head hurts just thinking about that video...

I guess I am in the minority, but I loved it! It was much better than the ones of the past few years where they had interviews with the same guests every year. This one was funny and showed a lot. I, too, liked Dave the bench tester. And I guess I must be getting old as my only comment about Luke was "he needs a haircut!"

We got ours yesterday and love it! DS5 has watched it several times now! I think everyone was cute and helpful! Nice job!

or was the music in one of the early "Dave conquers another park bench" scenes a lot like the music in those Enzyte ads? (You know, the ads where Bob takes a supplement to enhance his self-esteem...) I was watching it, not really paying much attention because I found the hosts really annoying, when all of a sudden I heard this really familiar whistling.

I was stunned. I wonder if the suits know about this.

But I did like the fact that the new video devotes a bit more time to the waterparks.

Hi!

I said this when the DVD first came out, but I thought it was disjointed, somewhat irritating, and not geared to those who would be "footing the bill" for a trip to WDW! I miss the brief interviews with guests, etc. :confused3

I haven't seen this one yet :(

Disnee Dad Says....................................I kinda liked it. Yall need to remember one thing, of all the people who hated it, how many of you will be going to WDW in the future! Exactly.

Hair cut boy was a little annoying, but his target is mid to late teens who think WDW is lame because they've never been.

I see this family of four. Teen boy, kid sister, mom and dad.

DD loves all things Disney.
DW kinda likes Disney, saw a few films with DD, bought a few toys.
DH golf fan, sports fan, doesn't care about Disney. (yet!)
DS hates all things Disney, thinks it's for babies.

DW wants a vacation, maybe at WDW. She gets the DVD, and after getting some seasick pills half way through, she hatches her plan.

" Look, it's the Disney DVD, who wants to watch?"
DD -Me!!!
DH - Whatever, I'm reading the business section
DS - Just so I can prove how lame it is. (and he means it)

During the DVD, she tosses in a few comments like.

That sure looks like a nice golf course.
Look at all those nice resaurants.
Hey DS some of those rides look like fun, and how about those water sprites.
Some of those resorts look really nice.
Hey DH, It's one of those ESPN clubs.
DD, look at all the characters. (you always sell the already sold to look fair!)
That Dave guy is cute, we know there are plenty of places to relax.

OK, who wants to go to WDW?

DD - ME!!!
DH - Well, maybe. (when I say maybe it's 90% yes!)
DS - If we have too. (this could be fun,my friends won't see me, and I can tell them it was lame!)

DW - Mahaha, Mahamahaha. I'm getting me one of those spa treatments, we don't have to visit Uncle Ed (my name is Ed), I get some nice meals, no dishes for a week, no laundry for a week, no cleaning for a week, away from work for a week. I'm gonna get on the dis boards.(It will happen, she is on a roll, and it will take her 8 seconds to find this site!) And being the bestest mother ever
in the history of the world in DD eyes................................ PRICELESS!!!!

I ordered the DVD after reading posts that gushed over it. After watching it, I was glad I had not wasted money buying it. The DVD was just an commercial, and the CD only had info that I had already read on web sites. And what happened to my countdown timer?!

I think they were just trying a little too hard to be what the "suits" think is "cool"

We actually got a lot of laughs out of it.
:rotfl2:

i agree! i usually get all teary while watching the videos but this one i didn't have the chance b/c they changed from place to place to quickly they left out fantasmic and spectromagic i was very disappointed the people on there were a bit cheesy i liked when there was 1 person showing you around and when they asked people in the park their opinions about things it made me want to go back but this one UGH

I will never be able to ride Tower of Terror or Rock'n'Roller Coaster again without thinking about the "hurl factor", thank you young teenage dude.
i am a teenager myself and i found this really dumb! who says the "hurl factor" lol

We loved the DVD, and especially the CD ROM virtual tours of the resorts--OKW here we come! DD10, loves Luke-- a frightening preview of dates to come? but I loved Dave, the bench guy-- especially as he ate and drank his way around the World Showcase! :rotfl2:
No tears, but I can look at our old pics and videos for those...
I sent one to my sis, and she used it as the way to tell the kids they're coming with us next year! I'm sure they loved it, too!

I thought it was okay...not enough stuff about the parks and the attractions.

I also don't remeber anything from Animal Kingdom.

I thought it was quite good - but the one from DL was awful- it was pretty much just the video snippet off the bonus for the WDW one.

Voice overs would have been better, and I wasn't interested in watching people go on about how much fun they were having. I felt it wasted my time. I would like to have more straightforward information about the resorts, restaurants, and attractions, less about how much this one and that one enjoyed it.

My kids loved it. They make me put it on all of the time. And they want to meet the hosts... :rotfl2:

I started watching with my DS (6) and DD (2). Both got up and left the room!! It doesn't hold our attention at all!! Like said before. . . .by the time you try to get the child's attention to something on the tv by the time they turn around it's gone!!!
