Who else was NOT impressed with the planning DVD?

You can count me in as one of the unimpressed. And, no, the one a year or two ago was much better with an interactive map on the DVD version. (Although, the trivia section on the new one was a hoot for my kids.)

The interactive map on 'Where Magic Lives' is so cool. The new DVD doesn't have this feature?

You can watch each segment of the new DVD on line at View Online.

I have to admit that so far I like the last one better than the new one.

I received my DVD about a month ago and YES, I agree too. It just didn't do it for me. I turned it off after 20 minutes and never watched it again.

Last years, the purple one, was A GREAT ONE. I watched it over and over. I love the interactive map.

We thought it was

MUCH MUCH MUCH

Better than last year's video. We've had the last several, and the film quality is a big improvement. The hosts may have been a little corny, but so am I when I am at WDW!
:rotfl: :rotfl:

I got my DVD the other day and unfortunately half way through the DVD it started to act "funny" and it appears to be damaged. I was bummed!

What I did manage to see I liked though! :earboy2:

This is the first time I've gotten the planning DVD. We were thinking of going this summer, but have decided to wait until the kids are a little older and we save enough money to "do the trip right!" :teeth:

I guess since I've never seen any of the others, I can't really say that I was disappointed. However, it wasn't exactly what I expected. My DH has never been to WDW ( :earseek: Hard to believe, I know!). My DD is 4 and doesn't really know what WDW is all about either. I was really hoping the the DVD would be entertaining for them. I wanted my DD to see what the place is all about and I wanted my DH to see why I'm so excited and persistant about taking the kids there sometime soon. It didn't accomplish either one, really.

I felt like others did that the scenes changed so fast that you couldn't really see what the attractions are all about. I haven't been there myself for about 15 years so I KNOW stuff is different. I don't know, it just didn't really show my family why WDW is so great and what it will be like to go there. I'm not saying that it was bad and it did help me get some ideas for our trip (we're planning on June 2007), but it didn't capture my family's attention like I'd hoped it would. In fact, my DD kept asking when it was going to start and we'd been watching it for 15 minutes! :rotfl:

Have watched mine 2x now and like it very much....but then this is my 1st one ever, so I have nothing to compare it to. Now you've got me wondering how to get a copy of last years issue! Anyway, I kind of like how each host was a specialist of one type or another. But I made sure and told my DD that when this was filmed, it was not nearly as busy as it will be when we are there this summer, and that the characters won't be as easy to get to see up close! :p

I didn't get last year's but I have the one from two years ago and I prefer this year's to that one. I thought the hosts did a good job with the info and there was more info provided. Plus, I liked the faster pace. Yes they were a bit annoying but I did chuckle here and there. Meanwhile in the old video, the interviews with the "regular" guests I thought were even more annoying than these guys. Especially when a four year old kid is telling you about some attraction...

I had the same experience as the OP. I found the organization to be confusing--no logical reason why they move from one section to the next, and they don't spend enough time on things. Trying to get my 3 yr old to watch was hard because they went through everything so quickly.

But it's still fun to see the parks and resorts.

I didn't like the girl who was the main host. I thought she was annoying.
I did like the teenager (dude) who was the extreme ride seeker.

For someone already familiar with the rides and attractions at WDW, the jack rabbit cut scenes probably work ok. However, if you've never been, I think it's hard to get a good feel for what you're looking at. I don't think the new DVD does much to inform the potential first time visitor.

Though I've been many times, I didn't care for the new DVD either. I like watching the planning DVDs in order to see WDW and I thought there was way too much Luke and Dave and whoever the rest of them were and not enough attention paid to the actual rides and attractions. The resorts section was pretty lame too.

Count me in. I agree that the scenes flash by too quickly and it makes it hard to get a good look at anything. It is more about the hosts than the World. Also, still no info about the restaurant. I'd really like a section where you can click on each rest. to get info, pictures, etc.

We got the dvd Saturday, I agree that it was okay, but it was missing something, it didn't have that magical feel to it. It reminded me a lot of watching the Top 7 Must See's on the resort channel.

Has anyone checked out the cd-rom that comes with the dvd yet? I was wondering if there's anything worth checking out on there, or if it's a glorified version of the Disney website.

I LOVE it.I think it's MUCH better than those of the past. My whole family watched it and they all really liked it.DH who is NOT a huge Disney fan,and has been to DW,actually watched it and liked it! :teeth:

We got through the first part of this years DVD and my DS & DD asked me to put on last year's DVD. Enough said. :sad2:

The main host, Erin, was so annoying that I almost had to look away whenever she was on. :sad2: I felt the whole DVD spent about 90% of the time on the irritating would-be actors and 10% on information on the resorts and parks...which is what I wanted the DVD for! Our's went in the trash after one viewing...we've kept last year's, though.

:goodvibes We loved it! Dave is my new hero!! Halfway through all we had to do was look at Dave and we cracked up. We liked the other hosts too. They each had their speciality. Dave does all the resorts and Rest of the World, which was awesome!!! To really get the full effect of the DVD you need to click on every single option, like we do. They went to the resorts and showed us things that we haven't even noticed before, and we've been a few times to WDW too! I remember saying to my 16 yr DS, "do you remember that? I don't remember seeing that, let's check it out in May". We said that a few times. We must have about 7 VHS's and DVD's and this one we think is the best! :cheer2: We haven't looked at the CD yet since we just got this in the mail a few days ago, but I expect not to be disappointed.
We loved it!
