I recently returned from my first trip to WDW in more than 5 years. It was a very emotional time because my husband, with whom I traveled to WDW at least 50 times, passed away in August. Parts of WDW are really almost unrecognizable since my last trip. Lots of positive changes, some things I wish were not gone.
My husband and I always did an early December trip and stayed at BWV. My very favorite part of those trips was the holiday tag to Illuminations. We walked over to Epcot every night to watch it. I think that the sentiment in that ending is the most moving thing I have ever experienced at Disney (not to mention the fact that the fireworks finale was so intense that my lungs used to vibrate!). I am posting a very old link to the original Walter Cronkite version of this event. I hope that there may be someone on this board who may enjoy watching it and remembering the beauty of it all.

Just returned from our early December trip. I was also hoping to see the Holiday tag at the end of Harmonious and was very disappointed that it didn't happen.

Didn't really care much for the new show, either. Given the way the show's infrastructure spoiled the World Showcase Lagoon, I was expecting something better. Maybe I just didn't get whatever story/message it was trying to convey.

Jean, Thanks for the memory.

"Harmonius" didn't really "grab" me either. The music was more bombastic, not as likely to stick in my old brain, I think trying to appeal to a younger audience. The main, center circle that is used for projections can only really be seen from a few spots with the right angle around World Showcase, which is really a shame. "Enchantment" at Magic Kingdom has similar problems. Music more loud than endearing. Projections are such a huge part of the show and everyone needs to crowd onto Main Street to see them--anyone watching from Frontierland, for instance, misses a huge part of the show. Again, I will try to keep an open mind and maybe it will grow on me.

I am sorry for your loss. Thanks for the wonderful memory! Truly a treasure at the time. I am reminded now of how much different it is. 😥

That just gave me chills. I really miss Illuminations.
