I had the week before Christmas off last year and could bake quite leisurely. Now I'm running around trying to get my baking done before we leave for Christmas Eve services. I'll probably be up all night!!! And I have to work tomorrow!!! Who else is joining me???

TC:cool:

Yes, I have to work tomorrow too.

But, I am cleaning the house instead of baking!

Can you send some of those cookies my way???? PLEASE?

I had my cookie baking marathon yesterday. 5 hours and who knows how many batches later :teeth: I was DONE. :Pinkbounc Happy Baking!

Geez, I dont know how you guys do it. I'm off all week, but the only baking that's happening here is the cookies for Santa that DD's and I make tomorrow...they are just peanut butter cookies with Hershey Kisses in the middle...Those are "santas" favorites.

DD's and I will also make blueberry muffins for Christmas morning..DD6 has developed this need to eat breakfast within 3 minutes of waking up...so I figured she could eat a muffin quicker than cereal..

For the rest of you...don't sweat all the cooking...nobody's going to ask you why you only made 32 dozen, when you normally make 33...

I do most of my baking between Christmas and New Years!

No stress for me! WOO HOO!!! :smooth:

Me!

I quickly ate dinner and have made three types of bar cookies so far. Tomorrow I have apple crisp to make and then eggnog cakes.

Normally, I'd be joining you, but this year is a first.

DH is a mailman who now has an assigned route (last year, he subbed on a daily basis). What this means is that he gets tips. Lets just say that he's been bestowed with a lot of baked goodies, so I don't feel the need to make anything this year. To give you an idea, he bought a box of 20 thank you card to use for these gifts and had to buy a new box tonight!

We saw Santa tonight and we asked if he wanted cookies or cupcakes, eggnog or milk. He said:

"I want the children in bed --Early!
I want you to spend time as husband and wife, not mom and dad.
I want you to make sure you have Mistletoe hung and to stand underneath it."
He mentioned that he likes cookies and eggnog, but that he'd prefer a pair of rib eyes, medium rare with a nice baked potato.

I asked if it was okay if I blackened it, and he got a twinkle in his eye and said "Blackened would be very nice!"

Fortunately, DS's both heard Santa say he wanted the children in bed early...they won't disobey Santa!

He's one cool dude, and he got me off the cookie baking hook this year!

Well, it wasn't all cookies and, it wasn't from scratch either. :o Nestle & I whipped up some cookies & brownies. Then I made a caramel apple pie, from scratch (sorta) and tomorrow, I have to bake the hash brown casserole. Needless to say I haven't needed to turn the heat up in the house. ;)

Methinks there is an overabundance of cookies around. I've seen enough cookies already this season to last a year, and you all are baking MORE???!!!:earseek:

I am not a very good cook. I did make some chocolate chip cookies for Santa though. It was the pre-make dough though. LOL

Hats off to all of you good cooks.:wave2:

Thankfully, I am just getting over the flu, so I am not baking any, but my dear husband came home all flushed and twinkling with self-importance today carrying a bag from Kroger. In it was a box of Ritz crackers, a jar of smooth peanut butter, and two packageds of almond bark. He then announced that he was going to make cookies for his co-workers tomorrow, all by himself.

Of course, twenty minutes later, I had been up and in the kitchen to find a microwave safe bowl for him, find some waxed paper for him, help him look for the tongs to dip the crackers into the almond bark with, and show him how to spoon almond bark on the bare spots where the tongs had been.

Afterward, he stood and gazed lovingly at the rows of little white circles....Hopefully I can convince him that all cooking is this fun and turn the potholders over to him full time!
