Our daughter has been to Nationals three times. Freshman, Sophmore, and Junior years as an alternate. This year she will be on the mat :cheer2: so we are planning on being there to see her compete. Can someone please tell us what we are getting ourselves into. We are smart enough not to stay at the same resort as the Cheerleaders but that is all we know about the whole experience. Do parents attend practices if they want to, or just the competitions. The wife and I are trying to figure out how much time we will actually have in the parks by ourselves while the girls are doing thier thing. Have been going to the parks every few years or so for the last twenty years and have never had the chance to roam the World Showcase or any other park for that matter by ourselves. Any advice my fellow DIS cheer families can give would be greatly appreciated.:cool1:

Congrats! And when in February is nationals?

Thank you for clarifying “Nationals” in the body of the post. :) Pretty much every type of competitive thing has some kind of “Nationals”.

When in Feb is this event? Trying to decide between a couple of vacation options and this may seal the deal for the other one if it is over my dates.

Looks like National Dance is Feb 1-3, National HS Cheer is Feb 8-10 and Twirl is Feb 15-18

Thank you. The Magic out of Miami it shall be - though I would have rather done Disney and the Dream. But do not want to deal with that - even if it is just twirlers.

Just in case you weren't aware,ESPNU is scheduled to show ALL of the College and High School Cheer and Dance Nationals today that took place at Disney World back in January and February.:)

They are currently showing the College Cheerleading Finals.

We went to the Finals of the College Cheerleading during our very last trip to WDW before WDW was closed,so it will be nice to watch the replays today and think back fondly to that last trip when we had no idea what was to come and had no idea that the terms "Social Distancing","Self Isolation","Protective Masks","Antibody Testing",etc. would soon forever be part of our vocabularies.
