no. it works because if all of the correct letters are in the word, and the first and last letter are in the proper place, the human brain will understand it. you can't add extra letters to the word, it will mess with the experiment.

Intersting. I think it might also have something to do with predicting what is being said through logic. For example, when I read, my head is constantly absorbing and predicting information. I can predict the logical ending of a sentence as I read it. That helps.
