Who else has had bad servcie with the Poly staff?

I think in responding to Mr. Mike some people responded not with experiences but in the way he handled the situation and that they thought he was over reacting. I don't know how I would have reacted with blood, glass and small children involved.

I am grateful he posted because I certainly don't look for broken glass on my patio upon check in, and now I will. That is why I frequent this board, not just to talk about how WONDERFUL WDW is I know that already;)

Here's some pixie dust for Mr.Mike. May all your future trips to WDW and elsewhere be free of room horrors!

I posted about our positive experieces because that is what we've had. Then those of us who have had positive experiences are told we have lower standards! Whatever!

Mr. Mike, you didn't like my use of the word minor. Sorry! Glass in the grass isn't minor but it wasn't in your room. Some very irresponsible person probably brushed it there after breaking a glass or bottle on the patio. You did what any responsible person would do...pick it up. Little children run through the grass areas by the pool all the time and that is a very dangerous situation.

As for the "blood," I did think that was minor because it didn't sound like blood at all. You called it fresh as I recall and if you think about it, blood doesn't stay "fresh." It does what it's supposed to do when exposed to air...coagulates and oxidizes. So it certainly wouldn't look fresh even during the hours you were in the room. My guess since you were there during the Halloween parties is that it was that fake blood that is supposed to always look like fresh blood. If it was blood I too would have been grossed out.

Does it sound to anyone else like Mr. Mike's room had been misused by whomever was in before him. Holes in the walls aren't par for the course at any Disney property. Goop behind the armoire,etc.. To me this would explain Louis/Luis comment as well as the laughter of the bell services guy. I imagine word gets out about unruly guests.

Anyway Mr. Mike, hope your next trip is wonderful and you have no room problems. I'm really sorry you didn't find the magic at the Polynesian this trip. 13 days until we check in there and I'm looking forward to the same great service we've enjoyed over the years. Perhaps you'll give them another chance someday.

Mr. Mike,

I hope you are like the rest of us and are planning your NEXT trip as we speak. Despite what things have occured it still is THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH and always makes Many Magical Memories. I hope to still be going when I am in my 80's, so I have many, many, many more years to enjoy the "MAGIC".

Have a Great Day!:sunny:

Who said that? I think anyone who thinks the Poly's response (including how long it took them to respond) was appropriate has lower standards than I do.

The glass wasn't in the grass it was on the patio and i consider that part of the room.
One piece under the table, one under the chair and the other 2 where you'd be standing or walking if you used the patio.

I don't think you should walk thru the grass barefoot, and yes i did do that. With each step i thought i was going to land in some duck poop.

What i meant about the blood was that it wasn't the dark brown red color a stain becomes. But it also wasn't freddy vs jason bright red either.
I dont believe it was fake halloween blood. But you know what? Even if it was red paint i believed it was blood, and i reported it as blood. Thier slow response to that report is disgraceful.

Regarding the laughter of the bell services guy; we thought the same thing. The goop was in front of the armoire, thats why the left side was moved out from the wall to cover the goop.

Wendi, like i said before we cancelled the Poly for next August and haven't made any further plans yet. But if we did and wnated to pick a monorail resort it'll be the GF or Contemp.

I wouldn't care if I was paying $600 a night or $69.99, blood in the room should have been immediately checked out by BOTH housekeeping manager and resort manager. That is not something that can be ignored, and even if they thought it wasn't blood over the phone, it should have been visually checked immediately.

It sounds to me like this thread just invites negative comments about the CM's at the Poly. It's the title "Who else has had bad service with the Poly staff?" I think that the OP just wanted to spread the blood and glass story around more, though he begins by saying, so enticingly, that he doesn't want to tell his blood & glass story any more. There just doesn't seem to be any other point to this thread, though.
Just curious if there is something I am missing out on, other than the fact that the OP is now not going to stay at the Poly again. And possibly other disgruntled Poly customers, who have joined in to share their stories of woe.
I don't know - I understand if you are dissatisfied, but it sounds like you shared this dissatisfaction already on the trip report. I would write to the Poly if you still feel slighted, or feel they should somehow have done something more besides change your room, clean the old room, apologize, and give you financial compensation.
I bet there are plenty of bad mousekeepers there. I bet there are plenty of awesome mousekeepers there. I could interview 50 people about their stays at the Poly, and some would compose hymns of joy about their trips, others would be okay with the trip, and others would be very unhappy. It's just life - some people have great stays, others have lousy ones. I think it's because we're dealing with humans, not machines here. But a thread like this just kind of invites others to share negative comments about the Poly, and doesn't really seem to me to have a productive purpose.
Cheers!

Hopefully not everyone shares your opinion:confused:

I have my stay booked for the next 4th of July LVC at the Polynesian already, it will be my 5th time being there on the 4th. I did have a negative experience on my last trip and also opened this thread to see what was going on with everyone else. Maybe the OP wanted to see just how many would post and what the typical situation for them would be. Maybe he was looking for a poster to sway his decision about his next stay, that is what a discussion board is for.

I hope that everyone will post their experience negative or positive. :chat:

I have read many trip reports on these boards, including quite a few that included complaints that I considered very questionable. However, Mr. Mike's experience was different. His concerns were more than valid and I congratulate him on the way he handled the situation.

As another poster pointed out so well, Disney's excellent reputation for service and cleanliness in their resorts is a part of their brand, and it's why many of us who love Disney return again and again. It saddens me to hear an experience like Mr. Mike's because I don't want to see the standards at Disney decline--I hope it was an exception and it probably was--but's that exactly why I think it was more than appropriate for him to want to point out the hazardous conditions in the room and on the patio. Clearly the staff was aware that something had happened there and that's why they should have given the room extra attention when preparing it for the next guest. Instead, they assigned him a room with conditions not acceptable in any hotel, and these conditions evidently got by them. Their handling of his complaints only added to the problem--if they had sent a manager promptly and properly acknowledged Mr. Mike's concerns, I'll bet it would have gone along way in eradicating his growing discomfort. Instead it took three calls, a trip to the front desk, and then another call for him to speak to a manager who (if I'm understanding this correctly) then says he had overheard him when he had visited the desk. :earseek:

Much of the dissatisfaction here could have been circumvented with better follow-up and a more proactive staff, instead there is a guest who probably won't return (and I don't blame him). As far as the purpose of this thread goes, I think Mr. Mike was looking for feedback on whether the service he received was the exception or the rule. Sharing feedback like this is very helpful to Disney fans like us who are always planning for our next visit.

Mr. Mike, it seems to me like you made the best out of a bad situation and I hope your next trip to Disney is even better. The split stay between the MK and Epcot resorts is an excellent way to go--we did this three years ago at GF and BWV and it was truly magical. :earsboy:

Heather, this is exactly what these boards are for, to share your eperiences with others in this community. Lots of people, myself included, put resort reviews on the "resort" board because a lot of people don't read the trip reports and they want to just know about the "resorts." I am sorry you feel as though Mr. Mike is slamming the Poly and that you are taking it personally, however, I for one enjoy hearing the good, the bad and the ugly with everyone's own experiences. I'm an adult, I can make up my own mind. I believe this is not how Disney would have wanted their "Deluxe" resorts' problems handled, I believe that for $300 a night, someone should have showed up personally to check out the guests' concerns with their $300 a night room. And, yes I would give a big YES to Mr. Mike wanting everyone to know about the "blood and glass" story because I'm sure he feels as though everyone should know about it, why the heck not. We can make up our own minds on whether or not we would feel comfortable staying at this resort. If the Mousekeepers are not doing their jobs then the company needs to know about it, and if they are doing it because they are underpaid then Disney needs to know about it. I think that the only ones that need to take this personally are Mr. Mike, his family and Disney, nobody else.

Dear Mr. Mike, thank you very much for sharing your experience with us, lucky for us, you know what these boards are for and you used them properly. I take it offensively when people slam someone because they share their experiences, it's just not right, and it's quite rude. I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to slam you for your experience, they do not own the Poly, nor do they have any vested interest in it, it seems to me that maybe they need to relax a bit and take your experience for what it's worth to them. You were clearly asking if anyone else had problems at the Poly lately and those of them who did, chimed in, those of us who sympathized chimed in and then there was those of them who decided that slamming and flaming you for your experience was a good idea, shame on them. Glad you are still planning your Disney Vacation although it's not at the Poly (and I can't say I don't blame you) but you may want to try the Contemporary, we LOVED this resort!

Sorry for getting so upset, but Mr. Mike is a part of this community and if he had a bad experience I don't believe it's anyone's place to say how bad that was unless they were there. Let's give him a break and stop slamming the poor guy for sharing with us all. If he felt it was a "horror" show or experience, well then, that's what he felt. Take it for what it's worth people and not personally.

Definitely everyone should be able to post their concerns over a resort experience. Just as others should be able to say that was not the situation with them at a particular resort and post their views.

Also reports should be taken as one person's account and not reflective of everyone's stays.

If Disney resorts were as bad every day as they are sometimes in people's reports, they would be out of business.

Also as I stated, this is "one" side of the story. Truely what Mr. Mike experienced may be a verbatim of what occured. What bothers one person will not bother someone else. Does that make either wrong, NO, just different.

However in fairness to Disney resorts and their staff, I have personally witnessed an episode at the Front Desk of an another Disney resort, that made it's way to this forum. And believe me what was posted was not an accurate account of what happened. However everyone was ready to believe the worst of the resort and staff. Even to the point of cancelling reservations and rebooking elsewhere.

I am sorry Mr. Mike did not have a good experience at the Polynesian. Nothing is worse than to start your vacation off the wrong way. However, all resorts and staff have bad days. I personally don't think one incident would keep me away. But that is why there are so many choices.

I would hope anyone trying the Polynesian would take in to account the many good reports with the occassional bad ones. Believe me the good ones will out number the bad, but they don't get the "press" the bad ones do.

If you do a search you will find bad ones on all resorts and alot of good ones, too.

I have read this thread through and through, and I appreciate any feedback positive or negative on any of the resorts. It helps to keep me aware, and it gives insight to other people's concerns. I like the boards because I enjoy reading what happened good or bad.

Mr.mike actually believes it was; As bad as the condition of the room was it was the CMs resposne and treatment that made it worse.

Clearly the staff was aware that something had happened there and that's why they should have given the room extra attention when preparing it for the next guest.

We all felt that too. Has anyone ever had a CM stop you from going into the room so he they can check it themselves, alone an half-hour after the 3pm check in time?

I'll admit the way he said it made it seem as if he was there at the desk listening to us. But maybe he was in the room behind the front desk the CM disappeared into to talk to a (different?) manager.

Despite this writings on this long thread we did make the best of it. The only time we didn't was while at redrum. The beach was beautilful and the Volcano Pool was fantastic, especially the music played under the water.

This is how i feel too. This wasn't my first on-site trip although it was the first time i posted my trip report on disboards. I know there is good and bad and i like to know it all or as much as i can. I'm sure other people keep a file or notes on all the not so well known disney fun ( such as the old fashioned room keys available at the GF if you ask--- i havent been to the GF yet but this a note i keep on that resort for when i do go)

Honestly i can't remember if i said this but the title of this post wasn't misleading..it was meant to extract bad experiences... to compare them to mine.

Lori, a few times we were at the Contemporary this trip and each time we stepped off the monorail that wonderful sweet Contemporary smell would surround us as Mrs.Mike and I woudl look at each other and say "why didn't we stay here, again?"

We stayed in the tower 2 years ago..it was amazing!!

Finally to those who think im poly bashing... here is a link to my last trip report from less than 4 months ago. We stayed 3 days at all-stars and 5 days Poly garden view. Read the report and see what a magical time we had.

This link starts at day 3 because the first 2 days we were in Washington DC and Georgia.
