We had a thread on race amnesia. In that thread I swore I would never ever do that Darn Goofy again. No way no how, ain't happening. It's to risky for weather and to expensive.

Well I registered for the 2011 this morning. Why? Well to start with it's a celebration of who we are and what we do. I would be there anyway doing the marathon and I'd be there on the half morning anyway cheering for the rest of you. As far as the money, well of course I wasn't happy about the cost but for the memeries you gain the cost is really minimal.

There is a difference though. #1 I'm going to train for it this year. Last time I had only a few 8 milers to prepare most of my training walks were 4 or 5 miles. #2 I bought a good wardrobe while the stuff was on sale so I would be prepared for any conditions.

Has anyone else done this? I actually feel relieved that I finally made the decision.

Yup Dave, after I finished the full on Sunday, I swore I would never do goofy again. No desire to, never be that stupid again. While at disney that week, in the back of my head I though...you know what I might do this again "SOME DAY". Well on the plane home on Saturday, I leaned over to Mike and said I think I am going to do it again next year:eek:.

I am not happy about the costs, part of my plan to pay for this trip will also help me get healthier. I would normally eat out for lunch during the work week 4 - 5 days. Well those are always bad food choices. So, I have decided to take the money I would normally spend on lunches and put it away for Disney. So far it is working, I am down 10 pds so very happy about that.

Mike, also said after Goofy, he would stick to 1/2's. Then when I told him I wanted to do Goofy again, he said OK, well maybe he will do the full. Now with my new plan in place, he is going to do Goofy again.

We are all completely nuts aren't we:hug:

The Goofy is DEFINITELYa Once in a Lifetime experience!!!!!

But I registered again last week. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

I figured that if I was goin gto do the FULL, then the HALF really was not that big a deal, Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo if I'm gonna' get 1 medal, I may as well go ahead and get 3.

Makes sense, right??

You guy are nuts...maybe you could even use some professional help. Have fun on your journey!

Yep! After year 1 and 2 of the Goofy I said never again!!! But I trained really really well for Goofy #3 and now I am hooked! Will definately be back for #4. I have not registered yet, since I don't have an extra $300+ laying around.

One thing that worked well for me this past year training was adding in at least one half marathon a month. It helped keep me focused and I got to collect alot of extra bling while training ;)

And why not go crazy and do the Coast to Coast too and end up with 5 medals? Yes, it's all about the bling.

I haven't done goofy, but I have done a 5k on hills in the sumemr in MS and told myself I wouldnt do it again...but I am :lmao:

Oh, Yeah. I'm doing that this year too. DVC & Tons of frequent flyer miles help to ease the pain...................

Well when I was training for my first full (2009 Disney Full) I told myself I would never do a full again. After I finished I thought I would stick to halfs from now on but after a few weeks realized I definately wanted to do a full again. So I signed up for Goofy - funny thing is I took a different approach to training this time and all along I knew I wanted to go Goofy again(didn't burn myself out with strict training - I basically trained when I wanted to knowing I had get the long runs in each week) I felt even stronger about the decision after Goofy was done this year.

Thankfully I am able to enter again through the charity I ran with this year (Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research) and even get a discounted rate on the "administration fee" which ends up going toward my fundraising total anyway. Now if I can just come up with the "administration fee" and really secure my spot with them that would be great but finances aren't the best right now.

While I was running the full during my first Goofy this year I felt so sick from the cold the day before I told myself if I could just finish this race then I would never make myself run ever again ... Not a single step if I could just get the goofy medal.

Well I lied!

I ran a half last weekend, one the weekend before, and am running one in two weeks. Oh yeah and I am signing up for Goofy again. People keep asking me why and I reply "because it's fun!"

We are all insane!

I did my first half marathon to see if I could do it, since I had signed up for the WDW and was a couch jockey. I even promised myself a twinkie if I got through the WDW half (I had a mudslide at the Backroom-a local place in NH after my first half). After finishing the WDW half, I swore never ever again. Then a few months later, we all signed up again. I failed that half due to an assortment of issues. So, now I have to redeem myself now that I have been in for a tune up.

Ours is the DL Half. We did the inagrual one 5 years ago and said that we've "been there-done that-ain't never goin' back" Well 3 years ago they introduced the Coast to Coast medal so we went back for "been-there-done that-ain't never goin' back- Part Two!" Now with the special 5 yr medal and a bit of peer pressure from some other running friends we are considering "been there-done that-ain't never goin' back -PART THREE!"

That is so me. However, I missed out on the inaugural - I was still a couch potato then. ;) However, I did go two years ago so I could get the DL medal and the coast to coast. I figured that was a one time deal. Then, DL announced the new special medal.

Duh! So true! The main reason I did Goofy this year was to get that special medal. I'm doing DL this year to get the special medal and I'm going to get one of those fancy shadow boxes to display my five medals! It IS all about the bling...for me! :teeth:

Well I went and did it - I signed up again through my charity for Goofy. Hope its not a let down from this year since the 5 year medal is SO cool.

I have totally had race amnesia. That's how I ended up doing the chicago marathon three years in a row. But I recovered and stopped the insanity...

Or so I thought! Now I'm having thoughts about doing the disney FULL marathon 2011. I swore I was done with marathons, but that mickey medal is soooo pretty.... and I already have three donald medals....

I don't know if this is the year, though. I've signed on for the podcast cruise, which is in December, and the cruise hedonism might take precedence over my training plans. hah!
