Who does the Grocery Shopping in your house?

On Monday I went to the grocery store with DH as he wanted to do some shopping! Oh My Gosh, I was never so shocked! This man loves to shop, he has became a regular and everyone knows him now and talks to him etc.

MsD, tell your husband to fly out to NYC and train Joe. Whenever I've sent Joe out to pick up something while I'm cooking, i.e. a spice or an herb or something, it's a nightmare. He cheerfully goes on his merry way, but he ends up coming home with what I ask for and usually the following:

frozen burritos
box of whitecastle burgers
box of frozen fried chicken
lunch meat
and a can of something - have no idea why

Actually, for our big shopping (once per month), I do it all online through a neat site called freshdirect.com I think it's NYC only, not sure. It is truly the greatest invention in the entire universe. I shop online, set a date and time and poof! Groceries at the front door!

So tell me (because I'm confused)--what makes one "GOOD" at grocery shopping?

I always felt that the one who does the cooking must do the shopping. If you don't cook the meals, how can you POSSIBLY grocery shop? I do all the shopping and I don't know whether I'm good at it or not.

Well, I don't know if I'm good at it, but I love it! (I know, I'm weird) I like to grocery shop, so I am the official shopper in the house.

IMHO, Christine, you are good at grocery shopping when after they are all unloaded everyone in the house is happy!

Unfortunately, I do all the shopping. The worst part is that I go on Sunday mornings, when the store is pretty busy - so that DH is home to watch DD & DS.

A busy day in the store by myself is still better than a slow day in the store with the 2 kids!!!

I do most of the shopping and I'm pretty good at it. I go to Aldi about once a month to get canned goods, etc. Most of the weekly visits are to Walmart because it's closer and I can do the one stop shop for other things we need. I pretty much come home with what's on my list. I'm pretty good at not giving into impulses at the grocery.

DH does stop for me on his way home from work if we need a few things. He also usually makes a run to Sams for me when we need it. Several times a year we do grocery shopping together, but it's not the norm.

It's just me & Dad, and we split the shopping about 50/50. He does a great job in the produce section--he buys the best & freshest stuff. And he knows his prices! Now, if I could get him to do the dishes!

I do the grocery shopping on my morning off. I am too tired to go on weeknights. If DH comes along, the bill is much higher so I prefer to go myself.
