When I go to the gym and use the TM and Elliptical, I always show a burn of around 500 calories. (I leave the program at the default, since I do weigh around 150.) However, when I put the numbers into Fitday, I only get a burn of about 350 calories. What's up? I'm wondering, if like everything else on this planet, the default at the gym is geared more towards men, and therefore, towards a higher metabolic rate, whereas, Fitday takes into account weight and height, and can better calculate actual caloric burn. (Thinking that more muscle, the higher the met rate, and lower for more fat) I would like to think I'm burning those calories, and indeed is one of the reasons I keep going back, but I'm thinking Fitday is probably more accurate. Who do you believe? I think I'll just keep believing the gym, as it is a very motivating factor!
