I was just thinking about the many elections I have voted in. My first was in 1972. Richard Nixon v/s George McGovern. I voted for McGovern as did most of the people in MA. Thus the saying... Don't blame me, I'm from Massachusetts. Actually the District of Columbia also gave McGovern the majority.

So who was running and who'd you vote for the first time you could in a Presidental election?

I think the first person I voted for when I was old enough to vote was H. Ross Perot.

:duck:

TOV

Humphrey, '68. I was only 20 in '64, age 18 not in till '71 with 26th amendment.

OMG, it was 1975 when I was 18 and old enough to vote....got married that year too and I think I remember registering to vote but I don't recall when the first election was that I COULD vote in, nor do I remember WHO I voted for!!! :earseek:

Mondale. I would have voted for Gary Hart, but he got himself involved in a little "monkey business".

George Washington.

Seriously, I don't believe that I've ever voted for a Democrat, so that narrows down the field a bit. I remember voting for Reagan, Perot, and GW.

Sure wish that Ross had gotten to Washington. That would have shaken things up a bit.

John Anderson

and that was the last time I voted for an "independent" presidential candidate

Jimmy Carter. I missed the '72 election by a little bit age-wise.

On a cool side note, in my very very first election, I voted for my Dad in a local primary. He ran unoppossed and not suprisingly won.
