Hi, i was wondering if anyone has recovered from the cruise. I know I have. I feel GREAAAAT! Well, all in all I had a wonderful time I did have have a question as we were debating on wheather to change our dates. see I booked this years cruise BASED on Disneys Reputation for putting out great holiday specials. Although I was and so were my 3 and 6 year old so DISAPPOINTED in the HOLLOWEEN TRICK OR TREAT and in the HOLLOWEEN CONTEST for adults I felt people went all out and the prizes that were awarded were littl necklice like the OYLIMPIC ones but were gold with I am A WINNER EMBOISED on it with a Mickey Head. The Kids Trick or treat on ship was terrible 800 kids waiting in hot costumes for a SMALL CHOCOLATE EYEBALL peice of chocolate at 5 different locations on the boat starting at DECK 3 through deck 10. I think kids got about 8 small peices of candy and some BROTHER BEAR CARDS. I was so suprised with this and reallly disapointed there were some really unhappy parents and kids. I am not greedy and but I saw no M&MS or kitkat or anything just small peices of chocolate eyeballs. I was really suprised. Was anyone else as shocked and Disappointed as I was? thanks for the insite and has this always how it is on the HOLLOWEEN CRUISE or was it better past years. I am just considering changing my dates for next year is why I ask. Thanks Tina

I Did want to add though that the ORGINIZED FROM THIS BOARD TRICK OR TREAT TURNED OUT FABULIOUS... I am so GLAD GINGER ORGINIZED it. HEr TRICK OR TREAT made up for DISNEY's 100 x over. THANK YOU GINGER! I glad we didn't rely on DISNEYS for a good time since we had you!

I cannot comment on this year, but last year on the Hallowen cruise they had a lot of different candy. It was all done on Deck 3. The kids had a great time. The only thing I didn't like is that at the "adult" costume contest many of the adults included their children as a "family" contest. I have nothing against family competition, but the kids had one contest and the adults were supposed to have another. It made it very difficult for some of the really cool costumes to win when they were competing against some adorable kids! :)

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good time with the trick-or-treating.

We were equally as disappointed.
My DS 8 returned from the 'party' on deck 10 early and said it was boring.
The treasure hunt was not fun...following all those people, waiting in the long line, just for a chocolate eyeball!
It didn't feel very festive to me.
They did have a 'halloween' party in the Oceaneer lab, but there seas were rough so my DS came to the stateroom to rest.
My expectations were maybe to high...

I was on the Magic last year over Halloween, and was VERY disappointed. It was the one thing I think disney did poorly. It just did not work, with all the children waiting in a long long line to get very little.( I have 2 small dd) I thought they would learn but I guess they think it is working, this is not there first Halloween. I did hear Today that the Magic Kingdom was wonderful--it sounded more Diney like. I'll never do Halloween on the ship again. Just my opinion.

Now if Disney could promote people bringing bags of candy on board and let kids "trick or treat" to staterooms, like trick or treating at home.. then they'd get more candy.. THen maybe have characters in the atrium. I just can't see doing much with the limited space, and all those kids.

But, I love Mickey's Not so Scary at the MK. I could see it being difficult to do Holloween on a ship though, just space wise..MK you have the entire park to trick or treat.. attractions, a parade, fireworks...

Maybe plan your next cruise to somehow be able to fit in Not So Scary... it really is a lot of fun, and no long lines on any of the nights I have gone. I have never been Holloween night though.

Hi,
We were on that cruise. I didn't think to much of Disney's Halloween stuff either. I just found this group last night, I wish I had found it before the cruise. Someone from here was in the stateroon next to us. They had a write/wipe on their cabin door, and Raymond was our stewart.

Glad to be here and hope to "meet" with peolpe soon. I live in Fl and gate Fl rates for both cruise and hotel all the time and just feel the need to take advantage of them all the time.

I do have question(help) if anyone can help me. Does anyone know how to send something to a cast member of the Magic. We a cast member and said we would send a book to him, however can't find the address, and he's not from the states.

Ginger and Amanda did an outstanding job in getting the T and T together for our group. A big thank you to them and also to all the generous DISers who not only participated but actually got some pretty fabulous treats for our children. Just wonderful!!!

Was too hot for the Disney T and T - and it was too late for the adult one for us (party poops!). But there wasn't anything better to be had than our own little group - again, thanks to everyone who participated!

By the way, did you see how much candy was still left at the Guest Services desk the next day?????????? I mean they could have given handfuls away and still had enough!!!! One eyeball and a Brother Bear card is pretty cheap!

We too were on the Halloween cruise. However, we avoided the halloween trick or treat. This allowed my 5 year old the Mickey pool all to herself! Would have liked to join in on the fun but knowing it would be long lines with all the kids we chose to avoid it. Also attended the Mickey's not so scary halloween party on Oct 24th. Was not impressed. Same long lines for 1 piece of candy - not worth the wait. Parade was ok - scared my 5 yr old.

Hey Rae - I did notice all the candy left over at Guest Services - They'll be eating candy for months!!

tailfethrs - That was me next to you!! Room 7106!! Hope we weren't too loud - Wasn't Raymond wonderful - he always kept our room looking great - And having 2 girls, that is not an easy task - Sorry we couldn't meet while being neighbors! This is a great board - You will love it!

Was Rae

I can't take credit for that! ;) Ginger did an amazing job on our hunt, all I did was lead a group! LOL Thanks to everyone who provided such great treats. I too was not impressed with DCLS hunt.

Leftover candy at Guest Relations? I thought I took that basket back to my room late Friday night. Dang it! I always miss some.

I was at the adult costume contest. Truly great costumes I must say! I was really impressed that they got Michael Jackson on the cruise to be one of the judges though. A very nice comedic touch.

So you were the candy thief, ehhhh?

By the way, big thanks for the coffee and candy from your computer buddy - more in a private e-mail on that!

Amanda - you still did a great job but I do realize the work Ginger put into the TandT to make it so much fun and so successful!

Rae

Sorry to hear that Halloween was not very well done on the DCL, but let me tell you this. If you are going to go anyway for HALLOWEEN, the Magic Kingdom is the place. We went last year, and it was awesome. You had to pay an extra price to stay after they closed the park for the Halloween Party (and it was a party). My DD never got so much candy in her life. They had games, they had shows, they had a costume parade (wonderfully organized). Would recommend it to everyone.

Also, I understand that Disney do not celebrate some festivals to extreme, due to many religious groups on board - who do not wish to be offended. Disney tries to keep ALL cruisers happy!Maybe why Halloween isnt such a big deal: it certainly isnt in UK. Happy cruising folks! Nat

Isn't it just great when the CM's start to feel like family to us?!

God love the CM's - I know we do!

Temps here in the 40's - quite a difference from the 90's - but then again, it's November!

Rae

It sure does feel great. It was almost like he was part of the family, and we share the same b-day.

Maybe you should plan another trip here, it's still in the 80's and we can't wait for it to come down. Like you said it's Nov and even here in the ne of Florida it should be in the 60's (it's waaaay to hot right now)
