Who can/will help me sort this all out???

Soooooo.... I've read lots of threads and think I understand the general gist of the new "best rate" plan.

I am not an AP holder as I would not be able to come more than once per year (actually we only come every other year) but I had been considering purchasing an AP just for the room only discount code if one had become available for my time (Pres. week '06).

Now I'm not sure what to do. I have a rack rate ressie at YC, plan to call for AAA discount when available but that is only 10%. Should I book with the online Best Rate plan and get my AP voucher (when 06 rates are released) or wait and see if a room only code (AP or not) comes out.

I am sort of going on the WDW correspondence another thread quoted that stated both best rate online and phone in room only AP discount codes would both continue.

Any help here?????

First, you can not book the new program until you have your AP or at least have received the voucher. So you would have to commit to buying the AP prior to booking. That said some have had problems with getting the vouchers to work. I have an AP so I am not sure the problems, you might check some of the other threads.

As to other discounts becoming available. I am afraid that is a real guessing game that only time will reveal. I have been told this is the best Disney is going to offer right now. Anything else will be less than these discounts.

Bookings through the New Year, are really up so there is no need to offer the steep discounts of the past.

Its very much like buying discounted air fare, you can check and see a rate and wait and its gone. Or you can book a rate you think is good, only to check later and see they have lowered them. I know it is maddening but it the new world of Internet shopping. Kinda like the stock market.

I do know based on past experience, discounts seem to be fewer at the Yacht Club than some other locations. I think this is due to the fact they stayed booked with conventions, weddings, and other special large groups.
