Who can use the Quiet Pool?

I know that the Polynesian quiet pool is open all night. I imagine many of the resort pools are. It's just that no lifeguards are present after certain hours at the theme pools and slides are blocked off. When there are no lifeguards present it's swim at your own risk.

When we were at POR, I don't remember the quiet pools being closed at any specific time - or any signage, but on that trip we didn't swim late at night. I too thought they were called that because they were smaller, less "exciting" pools that were quiet simply because less people used them. Fortunately, I didn't think kids couldn't swim there because we enjoyed the one near our room a lot! I don't remember them being fenced off or having any way to "close"...and there were no towels day or night - the only towels at POR when I was there, were towels at the main pool. If you wanted towels at the quiet pools, you had to bring them from the main pool. That was 2001, so it may have changed.

When we were at AKL (2002), I'm positive the pool was open 24 hours - I believe it was in their literature, or they told us upon check-in, because we had a conversation about how great that was. The Lifeguard and the pool bar closed at a certain time, but after that, you can still swim there - there's just no one watching you if you should have a problem. In fact, now that I remember - they had signs out that said - if you have a problem...call blah, blah. I can't remember the specifics. When we were there, it was 10:00 pm that the lifeguards left and the pool bar shut down. They also blocked off the slide. Lots of people swam after that - and it was very nice to swim there late at night. If I remember correctly - the hot tubs closed at midnight though.

Does the Poly quiet pool (still) have a slide? On wdwig.com there is a photo of the quiet pool at poly and it shows a slide:

is it there now? I notice so many of you saying quiet pools have no slide.

TIA

Seems like the "rules" at Disney get laughed at often, eh?

Couldn't resist asking.

At the Beach Club Villas the closing time for the quiet pool is posted along with the rules for the pool, such as no running, no diving, no glass at the pool etc.

I believe the time is 11pm and we did see security asking people to leave around midnight.

The slide is no longer at the quiet pool of the Polynesian, it was only there during the rehab of the Volcano pool.

My CSR paperwork listed the quiet pools as being open from 8 until 10 pm.

Thanks for the info---CSR is where we're going and where I'll swim in my first Quiet Pool!

I never thought that the "quiet" pool had anything to do with being quiet. I'm not a noisy swimmer so I guess I didn't worry about it :D We always try to get a room near the quiet pool and I guess I thought it was called that because of the non-theming. I know we've gone for a swim after midnight - but maybe we weren't supposed to. Who knows. General rule, keep the noise down at night when people are trying to sleep - we shouldn't need a sign for that.

That slide was put in temporarily while the Volcano pool was being constructed at the Poly. When the theme pool was finished, the slide was removed.

Yes, WL has a quiet pool. It's on the villa's side and there's a hot tub there as well.

Thanks! I figured that it was a temporary slide ( at the poly quiet pool) it would have been nice though, DH likes deep water and DD4 and DD5 like to slide ( and I like when no one is whining at me;) )

You shouldn't have to post a sign but I'm not surprised that it doesn't occur to everone to be quiet late at night. We have a pool at our apartment complex that is about 7 feet away from one of the buildings and they eventually had to lock it down because people must have been swimming and being loud too late in the day and we have no security. For me as long as you're quiet and want to swim during "sleeping hours" then you are more than welcome to it and DH & I might just join you.

Cheers!!
