If we elect to pay OOP instead of booking the dining plan, can my 14-year-old order from the kid's menu? My daughter eats like a bird and adult meals are a total waste of food for her. Is this allowed or are they sticklers for age?

My mom, who is nearly 60, ordered from the kids menu at SciFi last week. I asked before ordering to make sure it was okay and the server said it was absolutely fine. Not sure about other restaurants though.

We order from the kids menu all the time at both TS and CS. Only place for sure you can't is a buffet type restaurant. There may be some restaurants (like signature) that don't...haven't been to any yet!

Another option would be to split an adult meal, we do that alot also.

I often get kids meals at CS when paying OOP. Not sure how it would work at TS.

I am mostly interested in TS. :) Most of the TS meals are not good on the kid's menu...so I am torn about getting the DDP and saving a little money or paying OOP and saving more money but then my daughter has limited choices. I dont want her to be limited to pizza, nuggets and chicken breast every night.

My DS12 (almost 13) oftens orders from the kids menu - rarely a problem.

Our waiter at Les Chef's did look at us funny but brought it anyway (I explained that it was because there was nothing on the main menu that appealled to DS, I wasnt trying to pass him off as a 9 yr old). We ended up leaving Les Chef's anyway though without ordering anything other than a cocktail and soda. We didn't like the service at all and didnt see why we should stay. I however seem to have just had an off day there, everyone else raves about it and I will try again sometime.

That is good to know. My sweet girl eats such small meals. We have decided that with her eating habits and the fact that we do not always have dessert that the dining plan is no longer for us with the crazy increase applied this year.

We also received terrible service from Chefs. The food was decent, but everybody was rude from the moment we walked in up until we left.

28 year old me frequently orders from the kid's meal and have never had a problem.

It was very disappointing traveling somewhere else and having a hard time with a waiter/manager because what I really wanted was only on the kid's menu and there wasn't an adult sized option.

I ordered from the kids menu with no problem at the Sci Fi last week. And I will be 51 tomorrow.

We ate at Les Chefs yesterday and my DS11 ate off the child's menu, there wasn't a problem getting the menu at all.

The only place we have had a problem so far is The Plaza, they would not let DS have the kids menu in the beginning. I asked when we were at the podium being seated and she said no the kids menu is for 9 and under, I said that no other restaurant so far has not had a problem and we are no on the dining plan. She said, well the kids menu is for 9 and under so your son will have to order from the adults menu. Once seated we asked our server and he bought a kids menu without a problem :thumbsup2

Do the kid's meals still come in plastic Mickey Mouse plates? That might be an issue for some teens.
