Who' been to Portobello's lately

This restaurant use to be so good, lately I've read some reports that are not so favorable. Anyone been lately? How was the food and sevice?

We have ressie's here on the Friday the 12th with friends from Atlanta. I think there will be 11 of us.

DH and I were there the first week in September '09. A little under six months ago. We were very disappointed. We have been dining at Portobello for years, and always had great experiences. Our meal in September was ordinary at best. Everything was just blah. The restaurant itself is lovely, especially the outdoor terrace, so if you just want to enjoy a nice evening with your friends with okay food, you are all set. If the 12th refers to March 12, it might be too late to get an ADR elsewhere for that many people (especially on a Friday night. I know that's a Friday without looking because our family is coming in on Saturday the 13th for spring break.) On the other hand, saw a thread yesterday about how empty the parks are right now. In any event, have a great time and hope this helps.

Oops. Didn't comment on the service. It was fine, better than the food, which again, wasn't horribly prepared, just not up to what we had experienced in the past. and we did have a very nice bottle of wine. Enjoy your trip, "neighbor". I'm ready for this winter to be over!

They've been under new management for around a year, maybe two.

We went in 2005 and it was WONDERFUL!!! THe service was great our waitor was wonderful, they gave my son a cookie to paint for desert when he started getting fussy which he loved (and it kept him busy while we finished) and my DH and I had great food!!

So when we went again in Late 2008 we booked their again.. NOT SO GREAT that time...food was only mediocre (Seemed like the menu had changed) and they weren't kid friendly AT ALL!!

We have not gone back again since...
