In regards to the Sudan crisis, the degree to which countries are charitable and caring has been highlighted by their diverse range of donations. For instance;

The United Kingdom, including all territories globally, gave around US$96m from the population of over 58m; this translates to approximately US$1.64 per person;
The United States Of America gave around US$206m from the population of over 286m; this translates to approximately US$0.72 per person;

Yet;

Japan gave around US$6m from the population of over 127m; this translates to approximately US$0.05 per person.
France gave around US$9.6m from the population of over 59m; this translates to approximately US$0.16 per person.
Italy gave around US$10.8m from the population of over 57m; this translates to approximately US$0.19 per person.

So three of the richest countries in the world gave the least. Sad, really.

It is also worth mentioning that whilst the United Nations as a collective was not very charitable, the European Union was.
