I'll give you my take on this! First of all a bad review always is more likely to get posted than a good one. Its like that with the resorts too. Disney may very well read some of these reviews, who knows? But I don't think they automatically start panicking because people on a message board don't like a particular place. Even though the dis has a large following, its still a tiny sliver of the overall attendance at WDW. So you may read a thread that has 20 bad reviews on one particular day. And literally thousands of other people ate at that same restaurant and enjoyed it very much.
I think Disney strives to please and do a great job feeding masses of people who are often hot, tired, cranky and on sensory overload. Its definitely a cut above most food I have had at theme parks and resort hotel restaurants. But while I love the food and dining at WDW, its not my only reason for going. So I don't let it make or break my vacation.
We have been to WDW 10 times, we have been almost always happy with what we have eaten. Some meals are quite memorable, some are not. But we keep going back so we must like what they feed us! So often the restaurants at WDW are about atmosphere that we can't get at home. I do sometimes get disgusted when they start charging holiday prices and messing with the menus. But restaurants go with the good old supply and demand concept and often change their menus around. Portions may be a bit smaller but then again, I still manage to gain a few pounds each trip even with walking 10 miles each day! And many of the portions are still very large.
I never let bad reviews sway me or bother me. I don't discount at all some people's experiences but I also know that overall the restaurants are packed, I have been happy with what we have gotten and the service has almost always been above par.
Oh I will also add that I read some of the reviews by critics via the links at the top of the board and have to laugh sometimes. They never appear to like anything and one guy in particular just seems intent on hating so many places from the minute he walks through the door. I guess if I was going to go in with the intent to critique and really analyze I might have a different experience who knows. But generally we are on vacation, at Disney and just so enjoying our family time that we walk in happy and end up walking out happy too.
