I have a question, are all the balcony staterooms the white wall ones? I thought the varandah's were clear? What am I missing? I am trying to switch our reservations from 2 ocean views to 2 balconys and would love an a reply soon if possiable. Thanks in advance.

We ended up in one of the Cat 6's with the solid wall last time. They are all located AFT of the Cat 7's in the rear of the ship. Anything that is forward of the Cat 7's will have the clear plexiglass wall. (just look at the deck floor plans to see the specific cabin numbers). The walls are pretty high (I am 5'8" and would say the railing was like up to my chest. Definitely had to stand to see over it and kids cannot if you don't pick them up. Just select cabins that are forward to mid-ship in order to not end up in one of these.:thumbsup2

Thank you for your quick reply. I just changed rooms to connecting varandah rooms cat 6 but the DCL agent assures me they are the clear plexiglass ones. So far I can't find anything to verfiy that, but I am gonna check my passporter to make sure he was telling the truth. Have a great Wednesday, and thank you again

Yeah for Stockton...... My family lives there plus in Valley Springs..... Okay, enough of that now to answer your question.....
The "NAVIGATOR'S VARANDAH" is the one with the solid white enclosed wall that has a port hole size opening. The general varandah rooms are plexi glass from the breastline down and open at the top. Comes up to about 4 1/4 feet high. There are some cat. 6, 5 & 4 rooms that have plexi glass as a solid white wall at the bottom only. There are only a few of them. To check your particular stateroom, go to the top of this site "dreams unlimited" and choose deck plans. Here you will see some rooms marked with a *. Those rooms are the solid wall ones. Now note, we stayed in the first room with the * on deck 8 in 2006 and the wall was 1/2 plexi glasss and half solid. Meaning on the left of the wall was plexi glass and to the right was the solid wall. This worked out great for us back then as then DD was 4 and could look out from the bottom. So, the first rooms are kind of the 1/2 and 1/2 whereas my DF's room next door was all solid at the bottom. I hope this helps.... So many people come straight to the DIS by doing www.disboards.com, but the ground site for this board is through Dreams which is www.wdwinfo.com. So many of the questions people wonder are on the site. So, I hope that helps rather than waiting on info for someone to tell you. Happy CRUIZEN and take me with you. I am in 3 month withdrawl..... Went to the beach today, but it was not the same....:3dglasses :hippie:

I definately DO NOT like the solid white wall on the veranda's at the back of the ship. ALL the handicapped rooms have that type of balcony and it's impossible for a person in a wheelchair to see ANYTHING! Since my son is in a wheelchair, that is the only type of room we have had.

I just don't understand Disney's thinking on that design!

::yes:: I totally understand..We have only been back for a week and half and we are already going through huge withdrawls. But I never really understood when others would say..."if you re-book on board you will always have something to look forward to" and now we totally get it... Even though Sept of 2009 is 14+ months away we are already counting down the days. Have a great Wednesday and say hello to your Stockton family from me. :)
