I picked up a nifty pair of white pants at H&M last weekend and am wearing them to work today. I've always LOVED white pants in the summer. These are so cool because they have all these buttons on them and make me feel like I'm in the Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band or in the British Army or something.

Bad part though--I'm not wearing any underwear. I'm 42 years old and I'M NOT WEARING ANY UNDERWEAR TO WORK!!!

But what can you do with white pants?? They are so cool though. I wonder how I'll feel at the end of the day though when I'm covered in dirt marks??

So, do you wear white pants?

I have always admired people who can wear white at all. If I wear it, I am guaranteed to spill something on it within one hour.

Well, I have them on for 2 hours and so far so good. Made it through breakfast!!

You are brave... not only about stains, but I'd be worried if they is an emergency and everyone at work figures out that I am going commando!

I'm glad to hear H & M is not just a teen store. I've been afraid to go in there because I didn't want to look like an idiot trying to look younger. (you can tell with some people)

H&M has some GREAT stuff but I have to be very careful. Their skirts are definitely a little bit too much on the short side and some of their tops are kind of clingy and they accentuate my "rolls" at times! :teeth: But occasionally, I will find a nice piece of clothing in there. The white pants were one of them. Not too low-waisted, not "too" sheer. I also got a really nice red and white striped cotton blouse to go with them. I'm 5'7" and the pants have a lot of length (I had to wear heels with them) so I can appreciate that. Most pants are about 1 inch too short for me.

You should spend some time in there! I also find that they are true to size. Most of my life I've worn a size 10 and lately I find that in most stores, I'm down to a 6. But not in H&M--I'm a solid 10 in that store!

Good to know. I posted on the big girls thread...how high do the sizes go? I'm usually a large or 12/14. (sometime XL in tops/blouses depending on cut, etc.)

I've never had the phenomenon of being a lower size in a different store. I WISH!

They go to a 14 and they also carry tops in XL.

As far as being a lower size in different stores, you really don't wish that to happen. Because you KNOW deep down that you are NOT a size 6. I don't appreciate trying to be *fooled* into thinking I'm a 6 buy some marketer.

I'm wearing white capris today. And I'm another one of those who always seems to spill something on my white pants. So far, so good!

Funny you should post this. I bought some 78.00 dry clean only white pants that I LOVED from Banana Republic. I know I shouldn't have bought dry clean only. But they made me look skinny so I had to get them. First day I wear them I spill coffee on them. I got most of the stain out myself, but sent them to the drycleaners to get the rest out. I pick them up and they are very dingy. Not the bright white I fell in love with. So they say they can brighten them. So I go to pick them up yesterday and they say they need to "strip" them. They have had these pants 2 weeks! I haven't been able to wear them for a month! I can't decide if I should demand they pay me for them and get another pair? Or is it my fault I bought white pants and maybe white doesn't dry clean well?

I will tell you that white drycleans POORLY. I have owned several things that are white or have white trims on them and they always get dingy at the drycleaners.

Part of the reason is that white drycleanables pick up everything from the drycleaning fluid. Also, cleaners *should* do whites separately in new fluid. Most general drycleaners won't do this because it is costly to change the fluid more frequently. If you go to a cleaners that really takes a lot of pride in their work and possibly handles a large volume of expensive clothes, you might get better treatment of your whites. (The only reason I know all this is that I used to work at dry cleaners when I was a teen). Anyway, in the future stay away from whites that need to go to the cleaners.

I'm a mom and a Kdg. teacher and I just bought my very first pair of white capri pants in I don't know how long. Of course, I will NEVER wear them to school!!!! I didn't dare buy a pair during DS's baby and toddler years ... although, now that he's 9 yo, I don't know what makes me think that 9's a good age that he won't dump something on me!!?!?

Anyway, I bought them for $20 at GAP and figure if I trash them, then I haven't invested a whole lot of money. Unfortunately, I haven't been brave enough to wear them!!!! Maybe this weekend. I am terrified of getting them dirty. I suppose the trick is a bottle of bleach and a "whatever happens happens" attitude is best for wearing white pants.

BTW -- I plan on wearing a nude colored thong underneath my pants! Probably TMI for all of you .. but I'll be more comfortable than not wearing underwear at all!!!!

One of the things I love about my job (vet tech) is what we wear. Normally I am in white jeans/pants and a Hawaiian scrub top with CROCS as my footwear. So comfortable and can use bleach on the pants. We look and feel comfy and very tropical (in a beach town).

I have on one of those Target body shapers (Nude) underneath. I had to have SOMETHING under these things but underwear was not going to cut it. Way too much panty line. The thong wouldn't work though. I just couldn't have my butt flapping around.

I wear white all the time (white pants right now) and even wear white linen pants at Disney, when I go on water rides.
But NEVER EVER would it occur to me to not wear underwear under them. That's just plain gross! Wear a thong (sp?), wear some of those boxers, wear nice lacy underwear (this is what I do), ...

But no underwear at all???

I bought a really cute pair of white capris from Charlotte Russe about a month ago and they still hang in my closet with the tag on. :rotfl2: I haven't been brave enough to wear them out yet.

Let me tell you, these white pants are not baggy at all. They are very contoured and fitted. The underwear would show through way to badly. Even parts of a thong would show through (I've seen that effect before and that's weird in and of itself). So, I bought some of those new, nude body shapers at Target. It looks like I have nothing on but you can't see "anything" either. The top part of them are heavy and cotton lined in the important places. So, really, I guess I do have undies on, just not my precious Jockey French Cuts.

I only own one pair of white capris and I am not sure they even fit me anymore. I really am not keen on wearing white bottoms. Mosty because I stain things and i know white always makes someone look larger than they are.

But next time... just get flesh colored undies. Trust me they won't show. I wear fesh colored thongs with mine (and they aren't baggy at all) and they never showed. White will show but if you find something really close to your skin color, nothing will show through. You are so brave to be doing it the way you are!

At least you don't have to worry about panty lines. :teeth:

Try a nude color pantie or thong!

I bought white capris, but one size smaller than I am now. So, I need to wait a bit (maybe by 4th of July) to fit into them.

So, are you topless or are you going to tell us that you are wearing more than just heels and white pants?????
