White Mtns or Lake Region, NH - where have you stayed?

Green Granite is very nice. We also stay at Nestlenook Farm in Jackson. It is a B&B for adults (no children under 12 yo) and is owned by the same people as Nordic Village.

I wood reccomend avoiding Woodstock, if you want to do anything besides golf on your vacation. If all you want to do is golf then the jac-o lantern is good, but if you want to do other stuff, the area is not the best. it is kind of far away from most of the stuff "to do" in nh. Loon is near by, if you are there in winter, so skiing is accessible. Franconia Notch is nearby for limited hiking. But otherwise, there is not much around

These places all sound very nice. When I think of the White Mountains I associate it with Six Gun City, Clark's Trading Post, Story Town and the KOA Campground. O.K. that was all when I was 8 or so. Maybe I need to visit one of the nice places and get new less cheesy memories.

Those places are all still there, Caseylouand tyler2. We went to Storyland last year and it was really great, just as I remembered it from my childhood. The White Mountains are still a wonderful place to take young children on vacation.

A couple of days late, I know, but I thought I had a picture of the Mount Washington Hotel buried in my files somewhere, and bingo! Looks like a wonderful place to stay!

I always looked longingly at the Mount Washington Hotel as we drove by on our way to North Conway. It was just too far from the shopping to make it a viable stop.

But I have to ask. Am I the only one who thinks of The Shining when they see the Mount Washington Hotel ?
