I think that it could be made by a worm, but on my basil and mint plants, there is a sticky white film on there, what is this from? Does anyone know? I had found two worms, one was green, and the other was brown which looks like bigger plumper catepillars, could that maybe have caused the film?

;)

Patsy, I'm really not sure what the problem could be! Perhaps the white film is actually a slime traill, as opposed to 'honeydew' left by aphids?

Would it be possible to pick the caterpillars /worms off by hand? If so, I'd then give it a good blast of the hose, and then a spray of insecticidal soap. That wasn't a lot of help, was it? ;) :)

Here's a link to a site about Basil, pests & diseases, maybe it'll help.

Anyone else with ideas for Patsy? :)

Thanks for the tip Kim. I had only started to see these worms a few days ago, but will be checking for them.
