OK. I have to ask this because I really do not know which to pick. This is for our dinner on the day we arrive. Never ate at either one and we are staying at the AKL but both sounds SO good! So which one? Whispering Cavern (the all you can eat skillet) or Bomas (of course the buffet). Whatever way we go, we will be using our TS Credits. So please vote and if you could please also post why you chose whispering cavern or bomas. Cant do both because we will have dinner at other places on other days, so its one or the other. Thanks!

I say Boma!!
Why because...

1. You will probably never have this food anywhere else and trust me once they start cooking and the aromas fill the resort, yum! Two words.....Zebra Domes!
2. Being that it is your first date of arrival, it will be easier and more convenient for you. This way you do not have to rush out to get to another resort for dinner.

I have eaten at both and they are both so yummy. We did the "skillet" at Wispering Canyon and it was very good. However it is BBQ and you can go to many places to get BBQ. At Boma you get a chance to sample some of the most extraordinary recipes ever.

The one thing Whispering Canyon does have that Boma does not is the zanny interaction between you and your server!
But the chefs and sous chefs at Boma are awesome. They are very interactive and encourage you to explore the different creations!

I voted for WCC & then read your post & saw that you're staying at AKL.

We enjoy WCC more. We eat there every trip. We tried Boma in May. It was nice for one trip, but we won't go back. The buffet just didn't have a lot that we liked & there are other restaurants we like to eat at more.

WCC is a lot of fun for kids. If you have kids in your group, they will love it!!! There have been many other threads about the antics at WCC.

You are staying at AKL though, so it would be a lot easier to just eat there.
You could always try WCC on your next trip.

Went to both. Boma was sooo much better.. In variety, in taste, in atmosphere, in service. etc. etc. etc.

Boma!!! Boma is an experience and even if you decide that the food isn't for you, the desserts are always good and you will have tried it. Whispering Canyon is just bleh food-wise IMO.

We really enjoy Boma. Great food, surroundings and atmosphere.

No contest for us - WCC! I was so disappointed in the food at Boma but then again, we all have different tastes, dont we?

I have been to Boma several times since I moved here 2 years ago and I am not crazy about their dinner. But I am also not crazy about spicy, exotic food either. I do enjoy their deserts, however.

WCC is pretty good. Their meatloaf is excellent. The first time I went there for dinner Grama & I sat out on the "porch" I'd call it, where it's less noisy than the main room. We had a nice view of the end of the lobby and could see out the huge windows.

I have had breakfast at both places and the breakfast get two thumbs up. You could maybe do dinner at one & breakfast at the other.

Whatever you decide, enjoy!

Our vote is for WCC, we ate at both of these restaurants during our last trip to Disney in March, and we liked the both, but the wait to be seated at Boma was ridiculous ( waited 45 minutes with an ADR), especially with 3 young children. If you have children I would suggest WCC, the food is good, the atmosphere is so much fun and our kids loved it! The Wilderness Lodge is beuatiful too.

My vote goes to WCC! :cheer2:

My vote is for WCC. Our family enjoyed Boma for breakfast, but really did not enjoy Boma's dinner buffet. The food looked great, smelled great, but when it came down to taste - we were all disapointed. WCC's food is good and the entertainment is fantastic.

i voted for WCC... just not a fan of boma... tried breakfast and dinner and left disappointed both times... also had a problem w/the chef and ds' food allergies, but that could happen anywhere... i also think that for arrival night, it would be awesome to visit the MK area, and the MK if possible (if not arriving too late)... if it's a later arrival, then go w/boma out of convenience and relax and enjoy the resort...

For our family, the choice is Boma, hands down. We love the food there and the resort is fantastic. Wilderness Lodge is a great looking resort, but Whispering Canyon was completely underwhelming when we were there in March. The food was mediocre at best.

I guess I should have also pointed out that its just me and my hubby (we dont have any kids) and we are gonna be doing Epcot that night to see Illuminations after dinner. I guess I have to agree with the post that said you can get BBQ anywhere and which is true. We are gonna be eating at the flame tree in AK for dinner for 1 night. So if we wanna try some african flares then we need to do bomas. Now I noticed they have like chicken and the wood roasted meats. Are they any good? Is ALL food spicy and if its spicy, how spicy are we talking? Like spicy you need water after every bite or its really mild? What about the bread, potato salad, mac and cheese, chicken tenders, and the spagetti, are any of these any good? Of course I am DEFIANTLY gonna be grabbing some zebra domes. Just wondering but can you grab some extra zebra domes and take them back to the room with you? Cuz something tells me if I like them to much Im gonna want them everynight. LOL. Luckly though zebra domes can be purchased with a snack credit but why waste a snack credit if you can steal some and take it with you when you do the buffet at bomas. Also but what is simba paw prints? Are they any good. Can someone throw a pic over this way what they look like. Also I know theres gotta be more then zebra domes and simba paw prints at bomas for desserts, so what else do they have?

Boma for us!!! We didn't do Boma last May and I'm still disappointed about it. We do enjoy WCC but we can eat that kind of food just about anywhere. Besides, it will be a lot less time consuming to just head downstairs, eat and then catch the bus to Epcot. Much more relaxing.
As to the spicey-ness of the food at Boma...rest assured. I do not have adventuresome taste in food...real meat and potatoes girl here. DH does however, enjoy different types of food. DD is, well, almost 13...she eats nothing out of the ordinary!!! But, Boma fits the bill for all of us. There is plenty of 'normal' types of food there, as well as some out of the ordinary food that you just won't get anyplace else. I love the butternut squash soup...I could have just that for dinner..and I am not a soup person. The meats are delicious as well, and the different types of bread are yummy. If you get a hankering for something really normal, you can always eat the chicken fingers from the kids area!!!

I voted for Whispering Canyon, but only b/c I've never been to Boma. We are eating at Boma on this trip and at WCC again.
