Last year we missed our ADR for Whispering Canyon so I made another one for this year. It is on a day that will be tight - schedule wise and with 3 little boys I want to know if it is really worth it. How is the atmosphere and do you have to order the skillet on the DP or can you order from the menu? Can one pick the skillet and one pick from the menu? Thanks for any help!

When we were there in September, we saw/heard none of the antics that everyone talks about. You do not have to order the skillet, you can order off the menu. Personally, I would order off the menu; we did not like the skillet and DH actually was sick all night after eating it. Truthfully, we won't be going back...not worth the aggravation of getting there for mediocre food and we had really bad service (and it had nothing to do with the "supposed" antics).

If one person orders a skillet and another person orders an entree, can that person take from the skillet or do they have to keep to their entree? I've always wondered that...

DH and I love Whispering Canyon! Although DH is a reserved guy he thinks that it is great fun. I think that your boys will really enjoy it, all the kids seem to. From what I have seen from the servers they play off the personalities of the guests so that no one is made to feel uncomfortable. We haven't been on the Dining Plan so I can't help you with those questions, sorry. But I do know that if you aren't on the Dining Plan both people don't have to order the skillet, although it is excellent! Be sure your sons ask for ketchup!

We went to WC the last time we were they and my kids still talk about it!! We are going in September and that was the first place they asked about. They loved it. I think it is well worth the trip. Yes you can order of the menu. and if someone orders the skillet, you can eat off of it. We didn't have a problem with it. And we were on the dining plan. Everyone else ordered off the menu.

::yes:: We love WCC!

The food is good but not great. I recommend the skillet especially with three boys and just go to town

As for the antics, it really depends on your server, some are real into it others not so much

Here's a review I did awhile back it references some things you can do

http://www.mouseextra.com/2007/05/0...canyon-cafe-at-the-wilderness-lodge/#comments

Here are few tips

1. Have your kids ask for ketchup
2. have them ask for a bigger straw
3. wear something from sea world or universal if ya got it
4. ask for directions to the bathroom

there are more in my review

I say go, the kids will like it

We've had dinner at WCC twice with our kids, now 9 and 6, and have loved it both times. We have not ordered the skillet, it doesn't really apeal to us, but we've enjoyed our meals. Last trip I had the chicken pasta and thought it was great.

I don't know how much this affects our experience but I always book the first ADR time available for dinner, so we are usually one of the first in (at every restaurant, not just WCC). We eat early anyway and it's so nice to be in a restaurant before things get backed up and crazy. It fills up quickly and I don't think we miss any of the antics, there have been plenty both times we've been there.

If you like the antics, make sure to tell them at check in. We have laughed non-stop on all our visits. Hedda Lettuce is one of the best but on our last trip she was out sick so they gave us a really funny guy who was awesome. I believe his mane was Rafael. Anyway, he did not let up with us all night (which was exactly what we wanted!) We love the skillet, but you don't have to get it. One time one of us got a steak that was very good, but we keep going back to the skillet. They also have all you can drink milkshakes included on the DDP, they ar goooo good and you can refil with a different flavor. Also, the chocolate cake is OUTSTANDING! But we always take it to go because we are so full.

It is one of our favorite places and a can't miss on all our trips. We go our first night every trip and it gets us in the Disney Spirit!

Last trip dh and I got the skillet, my older dd and her bf ordered off the menu and my ds ordered a kids meal, dd was under 3. The only one that ate off of my skillet was dd2, I didn't think you were permitted to help youself to the skillet unless you had paid for the skillet.
