We want to eat at the Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness when we stay in June. I had heard that there is entertainment while you eat like stick horses for the kids etc. Has anyone eaten there recently and how is the food? Thanks!

We haven't been for a couple of years. But we thought the food was good & the resturant was fun.

We ate the on Labor Day '08 fo lunch. Took the ferry over from MK.

DH & big DS had the skillet - they both liked it. I had the burger - I thought it was Great. I'm pretty picky (I really don't like most of what I've had at WDW). It could have been a lucky break, maybe the cook was having a really good day.

The wait staff will play practicle jokes especially when it comes to drinks. The little DS did the stick pony race with a bunch of kids & an adult who was having a b'day. Weliked it so much we're going back in May. The decor/location of the restaurant wasn't what I expected, but that's ok.

Thanks for the info. Other than the horse races, is there any other kind of entertainment? Also how is the food at dinner ?

It's one of our favorites. We eat there on our arrival night every trip. The skillet is great and the "fun", you shuld wait for and be surprised. If you need to know, spoilers are on AllEars. Our last time there was November and it did not disapoint. AND the chocolate cake was a great breakfast the next morning!:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

We went in September on a Monday night at 5:15. We waited more than 30 minutes past our ADR; had a terrible waitress and thought the food was mediocre at best (I personally thought it was lousy; DH enjoyed some of it). DH got sick on the chicken and/or ribs in the skillet--the only two things I did not try becasue I didn't like the stuff I had eaten previously. We saw very little of the antics everyone talked about. We won't be going back unless we try breakfast.

One thing you should know about Whispering Canyon is that it is very, very loud. It will be very hard to have a conversation at normal volume. That said, we have eaten there several times and always enjoy it. The bottomless milkshares are great and we always enjoy the skillet.

The food is tasty enough, nothing fabulous. The whole point of the place is the antics.

There's no organized entertainment like a show, WCC is one of those interactive places where the waitstaff is in character. It's sort of a rowdy western atmosphere, servers bang trays, hoot and holler, pick on the guests, make them get up and sing "I'm a little teapot" for the whole restaurant, make them wear napkin hats, that sort of thing. At various times, children (and some adults) are invited to ride stick ponies around the restaurant. As the PP said, it's extremely noisy.

If your group gets into the antics and would enjoy playing along with the server, you'll have fun. If you don't want to participate, want a quiet, relaxing meal, or have shy folks in your group that don't like attention drawn to them, definitely look elsewhere.

it was pretty loud in april 07. my daughter, then barely 5, thought it was fun. one thing they do is embarrass you if you ask for ketchup. the waitress yelled, "she needs ketchup!!" and all the kids get up and run around bringing every ketchup bottle they can find to your table. she thought it was great. food was really good too. i think i had pork chops.
