Hi everyone! I am looking for anvice on Whispering Canyon...I don't know a thing about it and am looking for one more meal for our trip. There will be 6 of us --2 adults and 4 kids aged 8,5,4,1.5...Any thoughts?

Thanks!

We loved it when we tried it for the first time in February, we went for breakfast with 3 kids (7,5,4) and they had a blast, they still talk about it, oh and the food was great too!!

from what I hear this is an awesome place to eat, especially if you are into crazy antics?!!! We are trying for a dinner ressie on our upcoming trip in september.

Perfect place to take the kids! They have a skillet that is scrumptious and the kids can eat from that if they choose. My DD loved it. It is rowdy and fun. They do pony races and depending on your server, you may become a part of the hijinks they perform. We enjoyed it so much we're going back this Dec.

My family went for the first time this APril and everyone loved it!!! Lucky for ME!!! IN fact, I am considering taking them for breakfast this time hope the fun is equal to dinner!

Can say with confidence this is a truly fun family meal!

Happy Planning and have a great trip!

We stayed at WDL and ate there WE LOVED!!!!!!!!!! it. We are leaving on monday and will be having dinner there. They make it sooo fun for the kids and the food is great not too pricy either A++++++++++ do it you will NOT regret it.

Do they have all the same antics at breakfast? If not I'll wait for dinner

Oh, yes, they definitely do! :sunny: Just go along with the antics, and don't forget to ask for the ketchup! :rolleyes1

Ok, now this is sounding better and better. So...is it a show, like with set times? I gather from the replies(and a BIG thank you!! :teeth: ) that this is a breakfast and dinner place--no lunch. I need somewhere to eat the day that DS and I go out to dinner and have a sitter come. We will go to MK that day.

Do you order fom a menu, or is it just brought out to you?

You guys rock.
The best :thumbsup2

Me and my crew (dh, ds4, ds2, mom and sis) ate there this part week (8/13) and LOVED IT! :cool1: Yes, you order from a menu. We all got different things and tried each others - everything was quite good! There isn't really a show, just different things they do each hour or so. There is a pony race around the restaurant, yelling across the room for condiments and servers insisting that you finish your meal or no dessert! It was great for us to go somewhere that we didn't have to keep quieting the little ones down.

Have a great time! :sunny:

Whispering Canyon isn't like a dinner "show" with set times, more like a comedic interactive dining experience. The antics of the very funny castmembers who have odd names like "The Maverick" and "Hedda Lettuce" are continuous throughout the meal. They stay "in character" the whole meal and do alot of teasing and poking fun at guests and generally getting them to laugh and have a good time. I think their comedy works on both the kid and adult level. Also the antics of the waitstaff just doing their jobs, waiting on tables, seating folkds, is punctuated by group activities like songs and pony races directed by an MC of sorts. It's a great place to go to get in the Disney spirit, plus the food is great. My understanding is that it is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. You have the option of ordering from the menu or you can choose an all you can eat "skillet" which is a whole bunch of different kinds of food brought to the table family style. Last time we were there, we had a bunch of straws thrown at us by our waiter and another waiter who wasn't even waiting on us snuck up behind my chair and scared me, made me jump right out of my chair!

Funny to see your question at the top of the restaurant forum because I just this morning booked a dinner for 6 at Whispering Canyon Cafe for our upcoming September trip. I've already eaten there, but we'll be taking 4 other guests who never have. I can't WAIT to see the look on their faces when the CMs start "acting out"!!!

Well I hope you decide to eat there, it's a ton of fun and a memorable experience. And I thought the food was very good.

We did WCC for the first time on 8/16 for dinner. We had a 8:20 ressie, and (and I got that more than 60 days out!) Took the boat from MK :thumbsup2 It was fun for ou 4yr old grandson, who can be a bit shy. (he was saying " Mommy, the kids here aren't being good. :goodvibes We had to explain that it was OK here. We had him screaming for ketchup in no time! :teeth: He did the hobbyhorse race, too. I thought the skillet was great,(loved the brisket) couldn't eat it all. The chocolate cake was great. :thumbsup2 You tend to not get the most from the food because there is so much going on around you. Our server was somewhat sedate, although she did throw a bunch of straws at us. All of the waiters stomp around very loudly also. It is a very loud meal, my DH left in the middle of it because he had a headache.
The lodge is beautiful, I would recommend it to anyone, as long as you know how loud and rowdy it will be.

It really is a great time and the food is very good. I wish we had known though how big the portions are... they are huge! We would have shared some things. We felt like there was a lot wasted.
We had a lot of fun...my DD7 then was very embarrased though, she was chewing gum (I know in WDW, please don't gasp) and the CM/waiter, tried to make her put it on her nose. She did not want to play along after that.
We highly recommend it!

So would everyone agree that this is a very loud experience? How about breakfast...anyone done that? Volume level? My DS has a sensory problem with very loud noises...we're working on it(seems to get better the older he gets) but he has a hard time even at the movie theater. We are going to try earplugs this time at MK, since he had a total meltdown at Philharmonic at Xmastime. It was awful. Actually awful doesnt even begin to describe it..but enough of that. :rolleyes1

So, my question/point is would you say it's super loud(like sudden loud type things), or is it more of a dull roar type noise?

Re-reading this it looks a bit neurotic  but a moms gotta do what a moms gotta do.

And do you think I'll never get a ps for Oct?
