I have heard so many good things about whispering canyon. if I was in MK and I wanted to go for lunch- how would I do that and how long should it take. I want to say I heard you could take the boat??? Do you know how long I should alow for transportation to and from and the meal? Is it a buffet? Thanks.

We are doing Whispering Canyon for lunch next week, going straight from the Magic Kingdom. I would probably leave the Magic Kingdom 30 to 45 minutes in advance just to be on the safe side. 30 would probably be ok - that allows you time to walk to the MK entrance, wait for the boat, and get the boat over there.

Whispering Canyon isn't a buffet, it's table service, but you can get family skillets with a heap of meat and stuff on. I wouldn't recommend those unless you're all really into meat. There's plenty other nice things on the menu.

Ya..I would say 35 minutes should be OK. Once you get on the boat it is only 10 minutes to WL.

The WL boat dock is the covered boat dock immediately in front of you as you leave the main entrance at MK and walk down the incline towards the water. The resort busses will be to your left and the monorail station to your right.

The boats are the way to go for WL, VWL and FW especially if you are going for lunch...you are relaxed when you get to WL and the gentle boat ride back will allow you to digest your lunch in peace.

Remember that there are only two boats on the WL route, so you may have to wait 15 minutes for the next boat if you just miss one. If you miss the boat(so to speak) and do not want to wait for the next one you can hop on a bus or take the monorail over to CR, walk out the back of CR and hop on the miniboats which would then take you to WL.

Okay what if my family and I want to do WC for breakfast. And let's just say we are staying a POR and want to have breakfast around 8:30. Is this at all possible without a rental car or a taxi?

Well, if speed is a necessity, take the direct WL bus from MK. The boat is certainly a nice way to go, but that'll take at a minimum 30 minutes to get you there including wait times, etc. The bus will take maybe 10 minutes tops including wait time (assuming crowds aren't crazy).
