Whispering Canyon vs 'Ohana

"Ohana is now my favorite Disney restaraunt. The food and service were both excellent. Whispering Canyon however only measures up on the food side. Their service is terrible. They are too worried about throwing straws & napkins and having all the ketchup moved from one table to the next. With the Tables in Wonderland card you automatically tip 18%, boy did I feel ripped off. I couldn't even get them to bring me a plate when I ordered the all you can eat skillet dinner. The food was excellent and it was entertaining for children. We'll go back, but only if we can't get in someplace better.

I find the antics at Whispering Canyon to be part of the atmosphere. It's not a "quiet" place and I can let my kids be kids without shushing them. True, the service probably isn't as fast as in other restaurants, but then again, I'm not in a big hurry when I'm there anyway! ;) We love it there - guess it is just a difference in taste!

I like WC better even though every time i've eaten there i've had a headache LOL The main thing i DID NOT like about O'hana is just the opposite of what the OP said about WC. We felt like we were being rushed. The wait staff brought the food, and dishes out so fast there wasn't enough room on the table. It was just DH and I and the food came out cold ( potatoes, veggies etc) and we couldn't eat it at a pace to enjoy. I kinda felt like if i wanted to try somethign i had to stuff it in my mouth as soon as it was put on the table. Nah, O'hanas would get another try but i'd pick WC even with a headache.

I'm not a fan of O'hana at all. I agree with the above. We got seated (after they fudged the reservation) and it seemed like it was a race to kick us out. The grub parade didn't impress and neither did the grub itself really. We're vets of all kinds of churrascarias and this one, though not South American, was hands down the worst.

WC was tacky but a lot of fun. We'd go back there before the other place.

I have to disagree! I would take O'Hanas every time. The food is just sooo much better!!!

I love them both! But if I could only eat one it would be O'Hana because I can't get enough of the dessert (Banana foster sauce bread pudding ). A couple of years ago they had these fantastic cheesy potatoes, but they have since been replaced with the wontons (which are not as good at all). We have always eaten at O'Hana about the time that the Wishes is taking place at Magic Kingdom. We usually watch the fireworks and then go outside to watch the Electrial Pageant go by. Whispering Canyon is a blast with kids though!

We took my niece to WC in January and we enjoyed it. The food was pretty good and our server was actually really great. It is loud that's for sure! My niece spoke all week of the "noisy restaurant." I really want to try O'Hana when we return in September. It looks like a lot of fun, although I have read mixed reviews about both the food and service.

I agree with the OP. WC was merely OK, and it's not on our list of repeat restaurants. We liked 'Ohana well enough the frist time to go back again, and it was even better the 2nd time, when we had a great window table to watch Wishes. I've heard stories about being rushed, but we have not experienced that at all. Try for an ADR about 8 instead of 6 or 7, and they'll just assume you'll be the last party at your table, and will have no reason to rush you out to fit someone else in.

We've never eaten at Ohana, but I would pick that over WCC in a heartbeat. We went to WCC in September and will not be going back (unless we go for breakfast). The service was terrible (waited more than 30 minutes past our ADR and were in the restaurant, without ever having ordered dessert for more than 2 hours); the food was medicore at best (loved the shakes though)--DH and I had the skillet; I ate a little corn and potatos and beans and stopped eating because the food was so bad; DH ate the chicken and ribs and got sick on one or the other. And, for the antics? What antics? We saw one birthday singing and some throwing of straws. Nothing else went on the entire 2+ hours we were there.

WC was probably the longest we ever had to wait to be seated past our ADR time. And I agree, the entertainment was pretty lame. If you get the right server, it might work. Ours was not into it. I thought the food was OK, but nothing special.

just got back and tried WC and wished we would have tried Ohana...food was OK...not much fun for the kids...ketchup moving was lame (kids said thats it). Our server was nice but not fun. He threw napkins and straws on the table and that was it...we watched other tables having competitions their server had initiated...nothing our way.........disapointing

Ohana definately! We've done it twice & it's one of my DH's favorite places. See my Dining Review entitled: Restaurant Report 3/12 - 3/20/2009. We had quite an experience at WC... not the way I'd have preferred.
