Can anyone tell me if the Whispering Canyon rest. at WL is as great as they say. Is it worth the ride from ASMu to eat there with family?:confused3

I thought it was incredible, amazing, awesome, fabulous, etc. I wish I was there now. MMM sooooo good. I had the skillet. The ribs yummy, the chicken moist, the brisket sooo tender, the pork delicious, great mashed potatoes, sweet corn, fluffy corn bread. Oh so good! (the only exception was the dessert the cheesecake was too dry)

I think you should absoultly try it I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The above poster is correct and its great BUT as a regular who eats there they changed the kids menu for the worse and if you have little kids who live on Disney mac and cheese like mine and many do your out of luck,,,,,,

It's not as fun as it use to be. It lost it's attraction for our family and after our visit last week, we don't plan to make the effort to go back. If we're staying at WLV we'll still eat breakfast there. No more cloth napkins to swing around (bring your own), the annoncements for the horseracing is now recorded. We had no interaction from our servers the last 4 times we ate there this year. It is just a place to eat now and hardly worth the effort to get there.

It is good - not great. (There are few great places in WDW for that matter.) Decent BBQ type food, fun atmosphere, especially if you get a good server who is into character. If you want to take the time to go over there to eat, go for it! I wouldn't recommend against it, by any means.

We went for lunch 2 weeks ago, very disappointed. No fun, no games, no antics and the food was horrible.

We have had dinner here multiple times and have enjoyed each experiance. It is a casual, fun family type of place. If you don't want to do a cab ride from ASMu to the WL maybe plan it as dinner on your MK and then you can take the boat from the MK over to the WL for dinner and then you can take the boat back to the MK for the evening or to catch the bus back to the ASMu.

Don't forget to ask for ketchup:rotfl2:

It's ok. We've eaten there 3 times. 2 times I was a kid (11 and 14) and was with my brother and 3 cousins. None of us were the type of kids that liked attention or participating in things so we didn't think it was that great (also, when you're that age you think you're an adult ;) ). We went in 2005 which will probably be the last time we ever go. I was looking forward to the endless milkshake but after asking for a second one it took us over 30 minutes to receive it (when we got the bill). Our service was EXTREMELY slow so it took us forever to get any refills on the skillet as well. But the food's ok and we've had better service. I think if your kids like to participate in things or would find all of the whoopin' and hollerin' fun then it's a great place for you (also, some servers are more into things than others).

Whispering Canyon probably gets more "love it" or "hate it" reviews on the DIS than possibly any other restaurant on property.

Personally, my family loves it. We have eaten there every trip we have taken since 2000.

We have never not had a fantastic time there.

We loved it! It is such a fun restaurant. If you aren't into being embarassed - don't go! :rotfl2: We have our ressie set for November!

It was good, not great as far as fun goes in our opinions. The food was really good, though.

We went there and really liked the food. That being said, we had an ADR for 6:10, waited 45 minutes to be seated. The waiter took forever. Then we waited forever for a boat back to MK. We missed the fireworks.... So, while we liked the food, we haven't been back because it is a pain to get to, and I don't want to spend my whole night there.

We went for dinner...and had the same experience. WCC has now joined the list of H&V and Boatwright's of never to return to. And to top it off, DH got sick on the chicken and/or ribs in the skillet. He was sick for several hours after eating there.

A friend and I just enjoyed her birthday lunch here on June 24th. Our server was hilarious! This is definitely a place where the server can make or break your experience. She threw the straws at us, complained about getting our drinks refilled, grabbed my friend's cell phone because she answered a call at the table - you know, everything you'd expect at a normal restaurant. ;)

Admittedly, we probably received more special attention because we were celebrating a birthday. But it was still an enjoyable meal. And yes, we both had the skillet. :goodvibes

Had dinner there on the 17th. It was a lot of fun. Our server was young and playful, and helped us get with the ketchup prank. Cornbread was spectacular and fries were great. I would definitely eat there again.

We are in the category of love it! We thought the food was delicious (especially the chicken and bottomless shakes) and our server was awesome. She was playful and fun but not to the point where it was obnoxious.

I'd say go there and judge for yourself. I heard mixed reviews as well, but until you go you won't really know. Only your family can judge if its right for you!

We loved it. We were there for breakfast this past June and the breakfast skillet is great. Maybe we just got lucky and had a good waitress but I did see other waitresses getting into character as well. Ours was so good we couldnlt tell if she was really back0woods crazy or just having fun. We will definitely be back.

We had a decent meal -- slow but food was good. Also, not sure of the age of your children but we planned a 5:15 meal this year b/c we are going to the Chip & Dale campfire & singalong after dinner. We may also stay for the outdoor movie. They also have wagon rides that you might be interested in as a change from the parks. I agree with other person that its an easy trip from a day at Magic Kingdom -- that's our plan.

we ate there in '07 for breakfastand had a great time!! My son was on a special diet and every time the chef came out to talk to us the waitress would begin singing "somethin' in the kitchen is burnin"...all because the chef's out here."
It was also my b-day so the waitress had me ride a hobby horse around the restaurant and sing hapy b-day to myself!!!

On the flip side, we ate there for lunch last Sept. and it was rather uneventful and the food was disappointing.

I ignored all of the bad reviews. I saw the positive ones and thought maybe I'd be one of those people that had a really great time and enjoyed the food. I'm glad I tried it to see for myself, but I won't be going back. The only good thing was the dessert, and the mashed potatoes & cornbread I stole from my dad's skillet (b/c I couldn't stomach my own meal). We had a bad server and bad food. My mom refers to WCC as "that gross restaurant" if that gives you any idea of how disappointed we were.
