Have you tried Whispering Canyon for dinner. We will be on DDP. My DH is really a meat and potatoes (nothing fancy) kind of guy. I thought that this would be a good choice for him. What have your experiences been like? I was thinking of doing a Sleigh Ride first (December trip) as my daughter LOVES horses and I think this would be a nice surprise! This would be for our dinner on our first full day.

If you go to the review section and do a search, I think you'll find lots of reviews of WCC. I reviewed it last September. Unfortunately, we did not care for it and won't be going back. Service was terrible and food was not good either (DH got sick on the meat in the skillet).

Geez, I thought it was just us!! Our service was awful and food mediocre. We went twice to give it a chance, but will never do it again, especially after having to pay an 18% tip for 4 people since they considered the 2 two year olds that didn't order, just ate off our plates so gave us 6 and forced tip. We even complained to the manager about the service and food but no luck!

DH and I were there in May of this year. We, also, will not be returning.

I always seem to be on the contrary side of questions here. We hated Ohana and the Illuminatioins cruise and loved WCC. Ok this was back in 2006 but it was one of DH's favorite meals. The skillet pork was fabulous and Deputy Doug was a hoot!! My cell phone rang & he got the whole restaurant to stop talking so "the Princess could hear!!" We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

:wizard: We went to WCC on two different occasions and didn't like it at all...we thought the first time might have been an off night so we gave it another chance. The second time was worse than the first. The food was awful and so was the service. There are too many better places to eat around the world to waste a meal there.

We went last year and thought it was good, just went again this week and thought it was good - service was very slow! I had the skillet, which was good - my husband had the steak, which was average. We will go back next year.

No offense meant to anyone who likes the Whispering Cafe but for me personally, it is the LAST place I would choose to eat at! And I'm not even a picky eater!

We "ate" there last year. The food was beyond bad. We had the dinner skillet and the only edible thing was the corn bread. I complained to our waiter (who was TERRIBLE) that you couldn't even pull the chicken meat off the bone because it was soooo over-cooked, the corn-on-cob was beyond soggy and that the baked beans were rock hard and crunchy. So we got to wait 35 more minutes for a "better" skillet. It wasn't much better and the price for what you get is outrageous ($70+ for 1 adult and 1 twelve year old)! I also paid for the refillable milkshake for my DS and it was NEVER refilled even though our waiter told us twice that he would grab a refill.

And to top it off, we were seated by ourselves on the "outside" patio and missed out on ALL of the antics and action inside. Very sad for my son who stood in the door way watching all the fun everyone else was having with their server and meal. I left a nickle as a tip and on the way out asked to speak with a manger. After standing and waiting for the manager in the crowded, small lobby area for 10+ minutes I gave up and we left.

Certainly not what I have come to expect from Disney.

We stay at WL often, but never ate there.
Actually, I find all the "antics" loud and crazy and wonder how the kids even eat any food-with the stick horse racing, bandana twirling and yelling.

Just not my cup of tea;)

We had good service when we ate there, but the food was pretty close to inedible. DH wants to try it again (the last time we ate there was the summer of 2005), but I don't think we'll be ordering the skillet again. We may have better luck with something cooked to order.

We have eaten at Whispering Canyon Cafe the past two Junes and enjoyed it both times.

The food wasn't bad, but we especially like the fun atmosphere. Which, becuase we're in Disney World, we pick our restaurants for the atmosphere as much as the food!

We ate there Aug, 2008. We ate early at the first sitting for dinner (@5ish).
I would describe it as sloppy, but in a fun sort of way for the kids and my DH:drinking1. Right after we were seated the waiter took the drink orders and when he came back he threw the straws acrosss the table, my kids were a bit startled as that was inappropriate behavior, but as they caught on they thought it was funny for a little while, but by half-way into the meal, I was over it.
It was cookey. My DD only drank her bubble gum milkshake and didn't touch the food, but I didn't blame her.
My DH loved the mess of a plate that he got, I couldn't even tell you what he got it was covered with a ton of meat, beans, potatoes, it was a mess but he liked it. I don't care much for food like that but it was for the kids. I don't remember what I ordered but I did not eat much anyway. I do remember the corn on the cob, because it was good!
Just be prepared or a loud dinner, we were a bit prepared but by the end of the meal, we were certainly done. It seemed larger parties got a kick out of it...we were a party of 5 :jumping1:.

LOL! When we were there my cell phone rang about the time they started calling for ketchup - of course our table was where all the ketchup was... Anyway, he took my phone away from me and talked to my fiance! :rotfl:

The food was okay - messy though! - the atmosphere was lots of fun!

We had a terrible experience 2 yrs ago at WCC but thought we would give it one more try last year for our DGG and it didn't get any better. An hour wait for a table:mad: terrible service and food:mad: the waitress completely forgot about us as she was soo busy with another table of 4 people and we felt that because there were 7 of us she didn't need to work for her tip :snooty: some of our food never came:mad: .When we complained to her she gave us a small bag of desserts(well 2 cookies and one cake)even though we had already said we was not having desserts with our meal
Will not go back again:banana:

WOW, From all Im reading about this place....Im actually scared to eat there. :scared1: But we are staying at WL and on the Free Dining plan, if you can call it FREE !!!! But at least I wont be paying out of pocket.

I can only hope its not as bad as everyone says. I hope Im pleasantly surprised !!!

Does anyone out there have any good reviews ?

Our family ate here last September and really enjoyed our meal. We did not want to be part of the entertainment so they sat us at the back of the restaurant and we were able to enjoy our meal. They did do a couple of funny, but not over the top, things to us. We thought that the food was really good and our service was great. My husband and I ate the family style meal and our boys had prime rib. The dessert was wonderful. We plan to eat here again in September.

Yea :banana: Someone actually enjoyed a meal there. Looks like there is hope. Thanks for posting the review.

We ate there in July and everything was fine. We enjoyed the loud atmosphere. We ordered individual meals (not the skillets)- that seems to be the key here for getting good food.
