Whispering Canyon or Ohana's for fun?

I was planning on doing Ohana's but we are going to Kona the day before for DH b-day (his pick). So I was thinking of going to the WC instead. Opinions?

WC is indeed fun. 'Ohana is, too, but a different kind of fun. I think 'Ohana might be a little tastier, but we like them both.

Since you're gonna be in the Poly for Kona, I'd opt for WCC.

We really like both places. 'Ohana and Kona are very different as far as menu, crowd level, activities during the meal etc etc., so even if you do both, it's two different experiences. WC is a lot of fun too. There have been some negative reviews, but we really like WC - the food is OK, and if the wait staff are in a good mood, they're fairly entertaining. Plus, the Lodge is great place to visit.

I would say make room on your itinerary to go to all three restaurants!

If I had to pick one, it would be 'Ohana's. Love it. But WCC is a lot of fun if you get a rowdy cast.

I really like Ohana because of the atmosphere and location. I don't think the food's all that great, nor the amount of entertainment adaquate for a restaurant of its size, but basically being in the Poly with the view of the grounds and castle is enough for me. You can have a very nice evening by eating at Ohana for dinner, followed up with watching Wishes from the Poly's beach. :)

Tough choice--

WC is great for the fun/laugh factor. The food there is very good too (we got the skillet) We had an incredible server who had us laughing the entire time. She was poking fun at my son in a nice way.

As far as Ohana the food is a bit better in my opinion. Still fun, but without the antics. The pineapple races they do are geared toward young kids. As for other fun things to do there...the views of the castle at night can't be beat and if you time it with wishes it's wonderful to sit outside on the sand to watch the fireworks, you can hear the music on speakers too.

It all depends on what kind of an evening you are looking for.

Personally, we do not care for either WCC or Ohana due to service and food quality. If force to choose between these two I would select Ohana. Overall, I would consider the Luau or Bar-BQ dinners before these two restaurants.

I'm mostly going for our two boys 3 and almost 7. I thought both of these sounded fun, but only have room for one (I think). I'm wondering which one the kids will think is the most fun. Also, can you see the castle from Kona?

If a castle view is a critical component I would suggest California Grill. Kona is oriented on the other opposite side of the building. Ohana has diverse seating too with a collection of less than desirable floor locations.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not worried about being able to see the castle, but wanted to know if you could see if from Kona.

of the 2, I would choose WCC. We've always enjoyed dinner there, the 1st time we had Ohana's for dinner, I wasn't crazy about it, kinda plain, but we're giving it a second chance in June.

at WCC we've always had fun, and walked away laughing our butts off, the kids really love it there

For your kids, you might want to give WCC a try. I don't think the food is great at either place, but our kids (around the same ages as yours) have a blast at WCC. It can be loud and boisterous -- ketchup games, horse races -- but that's perfect for kids.

I agree, if it's for the boys. WCC is a better choice for fun.

We've been to both. I like Ohana better. When we ate at WCC we were sat in the library section (small room in the back). It was quiet and although we got straws thrown at us and when my son asked for ketchup we got lots of bottles that was it since we weren't in the main room. It was fun but I do think you'd be more part of the action if you were located there. I did think the food was good though. We had the skillet. We've been to Ohanas twice. We enjoyed the food there also. They have coconut races and the Limbo for the kids. Our son really enjoyed this. I think more so than at WCC. Both are fine though. Happy Planning.

It looks like you are going about the same time as we are-8/7-14. I wasn't able to get Ohana's any earlier than 8:50-so have an alternate plan available if you can't get it.

We loved Whispering Canyon a few trips back and will be going again this trip. I was really hoping to try Ohana's and will just keep trying to see if there is a cancelation.

Good luck and have fun!
