I'm looking for opinions on Whispering Canyon. Is it worth the trip to Wilderness Lodge? How long would it take to get there from CR or MK? What's the best transportation?

Thanks for the opinions!

We really enjoyed Whispering Canyon. The food was good and the atmosphere was a lot of fun (don't forget to ask for ketchup).

We left MK to go there for lunch. I think we allowed ourselves 30-40 minutes to get there. We took the boat from MK to WL. I doubt that was the most efficient way to get there, but it was so relaxing and the breeze was heavenly on a hot day. I'm sure someone in the know will post the quickest way to get there.

I do think it's worth a trip if you're not completely stressed for time.

Hi,

I love WC, it's fun!!!!! Worth a trip! Get on the WL bus @ MK. That's your best bet.

From MK is it a short enjoyable boat ride away, I would say about 10 minutes or maybe less. I havn't been to Whispering Canyon, but we are planning on going our next trip on our MK day.

Unfortunately, WC was the worst meal of our 2002 trip. The CM at the check-in desk was snotty and our server was slow and not into the experience at all. My children were in tears as every other table in the room was getting the WC "treatment." When we asked for ketchup the waitress simply brought us a bottle - after a 10-minute wait. Another server noticed and organized a group to bring us more, but by that point the meal was ruined for us. The kids want to try it again, as we've heard so many fun things, but it's hard for me to dredge up any enthusiasm for the place. I guess we just hit it on a bad night, but I wanted to warn you not to go in with overly high expectations. It must be great, and I may give in to the kids and go back in 2006.

Don't go when you're tired. We went on our last trip and the wait was 60 - 90 minutes (last minute, we didn't have a PS). By the time we got in my group was a bit tired and cranky and not in the mood. It was VERY loud. I didn't mind too much. Our server sensed we weren't really in the mood and didn't give us too much of a hard time. The food was really good. We had meatloaf and roast chicken with carmel apple pie for dessert (we all split).

A wonderful restaurant and such fun! It was one of the highlights of our trip. We all loved the food and the staff were really into the spirit of things. Would I go again? - you bet I would! :teeth:

We have PS's for 2/14 at WC (not the most romantic, but it should be a lot of fun!). Other than the ketchup and water, what other things should we request to make the meal more fun?

We thought the food was great and my daughter loved riding the stick horses around restaurant. They do that at the top of each hour.
However, it did get a little old signing happy birthday every 10 minutes during the meal. I mean its great to sing for someone, but after a while we were like ENOUGH ALREADY!

We love WC and it is on our list of MUSTS for this year. WC is a very short boat ride from MK. The boat ride itself is very enjoyable.

Whispering Canyon was our best meal at WDW last week! In defense of the waitstaff in regards to the slow service - they have their hands full. Along with the "entertainment" aspect of it all they have to fill your drink orders, entertain, take your order, entertain, bring your meal, entertain, bring you refills of beverages, entertain, bring your desert, entertain, bring your bill, entertain and then after you pay and leave THEY, the waitstaff, has to bus their own tables... I know this is their job, but in most restaurants there is a bus boy/girl and normally not such large groups of people. At our meal, I asked the server about the fact she had to bus her own tables and she said that it was not always like that, but she said they had cutbacks - like many companies... After seeing how hard she had to work I could not gripe about my daughter not getting a cool hat to wear!

So go and enjoy your meal - cause it will be great! And along with the ketchup ask your server you use a coffee filter for the hat for the men at your table! And have your camera ready!! Hysterical

We stayed at WL and must have eaten at WC 5 times!!! My kids could not get enough! The food was great and the entertainment hysterical. Ask for ketchup, straws, water...napkins. Four months later my kids still yell for keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetchup!

Lunch was way more sedate than dinner.

Have fun!!!

We love eating at WC. I don't think we have ever had a bad experience there. Their all you can drink milkshakes are really tempting as well.

We LOVE WC! Ask for Empty Wallet!
She's a hoot! (she wears a tweedle dee beanie hat with a spinner on it!)
We always ask for her :teeth:
Definately get a PS because it's very popular.
Quickest way from either CR or MK is by boat!

fun things that might get her going....
ask for ketchup, gum, men ask where the restroom is, tell her you're going to Universal for the day, ask for a large drink, we've never been disappointed with her!

also, the ribs are to die for! The best!!!!

Glad to hear that many people liked it. DW and I are going to take our DD and 2 nieces this summer so their parents can go out and celebrate their anniversary. We thought it would be fun to take the kids.

We have a PS this Saturday night. I'm really looking forward to. Especially after an 18 hour car ride, we will need some fun and excitement to get us in the disney spirit for our week of disney fun! YAY!! One more day!

We stayed at WL and ate at WCC. It was great. Great food and friendly service. Make a PS if you don't want to wait - it can get crowded. I would definitely take the boat from MK - it's a nice quick trip.
