Hey dining experts!

I've booked PS at Whispering Canyon for 5pm in mid-December. We shouldn't have any problem arriving a bit early--will probably try to get to WL by 4:30 to check things out as we've never been there before.

Anyway, I also booked a sleigh ride at 6pm for our group. Does anyone see a problem with us making the sleigh ride at 6pm when allowing an hour to dine?

The party is 3 adults and 2 children (3 yrs and 18 mos). My assumption is that we will be seated right away, and I can't imagine it taking a full hour to order and eat. But, then, I've never been to Whispering Canyon either.

Any feedback to offer?

I think I would give yourself a little more time to eat. You dont want to be to rushed. It's a lot of fun! And time flys when your having fun. I think a ride at 6:30 or even 7:00 would be better. Besides they say to show up 15 min early for your ride.

Yeah, I'd give yourself a bit more time. You might be able to rush in and out of WS within an hour, but then what's the point of dining there? We found the food merely okay (yes, I know others love it), but the shenanigans are what make the experience unique. Often, your server gets caught up in the action, so allow a bit of extra time for the meal.

I don't think an hour is enough time either. We ate there twice on our trip 3 weeks ago and because of all the "activities" it tends to be a drawn out dinner. Make the sleigh ride for later.

In general, the PS time is only a rough guideline as to when you'll ACTUALLY be seated, even if you check in early. I don't have specific experience w/ Whispering Canyon so maybe they hit their PS times more than others... Most places we were seated w/i 10 minutes or so of our PS time but not always AT our time. So you might take that into account. I don't like to be stressing about getting OUT of a restaurant to make another event (my husband isn't as concerned about punctuality ;) ) so personally I'd try to allow more time.

Have fun!

WE ARE GOING TO WHISPERING PINES FOR OUR TRIP NOV 21-24. WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL? SOMEONE TOLD ME YOU RIDE STICK PONIES TO YOUR TABLE, WHAT ELSE?

THANKS-
TAMMY

We have eaten at Whispering Canyon and received our food 5 minutes after ordering and other times it has taken 20. The good news is you are eating early but at that time of year I'd be concerned. To the poster above me, just ask for Ketsup and you'll see what is "special" about Whispering Canyon.

At that time of day, I think allocating an hour to eat will probably work out fine for you. If you decide to arrive a bit earlier, I'm sure you'll have no problems being seated since it's not crowded at 4:30 - 5:00 pm. If you're worried about getting out of the restaurant in a hour, just mention it to your server and you should be in good shape. Have a great time, WC is one of our favorite places to eat!

We ate there about that same time last year on a Saturday night and it took us a good two hours to eat. It was fun and all but service was so slow. We checked in about 45 minutes early as we were staying at the WL and we got in about 10 minutes after our PS time. I would move one of the times to allow a full two hours.

I guess circumstances can be different for whatever reasons, but having dined at WC at least a dozen times, I can honestly say we've never been there for 2 hours. Most times, not even one hour. Not that I doubt your story, just that it's not been our experience.

I had lunch here for the first time last trip and it was great. I would recommend either getting an earlier PS for dinner or pushing out your sleigh ride reservation to say 6:30 or 7pm. There is no guarentee that you will be seated immediately at 5pm and it's not going to be much fun having to rush through your meal.

Could you reschedule it for AFTER the ride??? I've been at a non busy time and it wasn't as lively as I've heard about. I think when the place is packed you'd see more antics and fun. A later dinner would be a bigger crowd.
