We are thinking about going to Whispering Canyon Cafe during our July trip to WDW. We were wondering about all the hijinks that CM do. Do they keep at you if you don't participate. My children aren't always ones to join in if at strange places. I don't want this to be a bad experiance. How are PS for this place, we can make ours starting today for the date we want to go. Do we have more time to think about this?

Thanks. Tripletdad.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My experience is that they will participate more with you if you participate with them. Everything they do is nice, mainly jokes and games, and they're not going to force anyone to do anything (not kids anyhow). Your kids will probably have a blast. The food is good and the waiters range from "very nice" to "very nice and very silly" which seems to be a winning combo for children.

Of course, if you're really concerned, you can scope it out without the kids before your PS. The restaurant is open from the lobby area, and like most WDW restaurants, if they're not too busy, they'd be more than happy to let you step inside and look around. Take a peek and make your decision based on that rather than blind speculation. I'm sure you will love it, though.

Great suggestions Steve. Are there any times that are more rowdy than others?

Our server DEFINITELY couldn't take a hint... he kept on and on and on, until I thought my sister in law was going to take him out back and hogtie him.

On top of that the service was slow, the wait to get seated with PS was long, it was unbearibly noisy... couldn't hear the person sitting next to you... and the food wasn't good at all.

If you want to eat here, I hope that you have a better time.

my wife and I ate here. it was loud but not ridiculously so.
the food was good and the hijinks were fun. there was laughter and games going on a lot of the time. we did not have PS and had under 5 min. wait.

We would go again.

You might want to try lunch instead of dinner. It seems a little more mellow then, but they still do the pony races for the kids, if they are interested.

We did dinner here last month with a large group and it was very enjoyable. We did have an early PS (5:10) however some of our group didn't arrive til 5:30 but when they arrived we sat.

Our waiter was really good. He fit right in there but was very easy with the jokes. When we asked for extra straws, he brought us about 20 and threw them up over the table, the kids loved that! Brought one of the girls a bucket of water and ice with a big straw when she asked for extra water. He was not at all obnoxious.

The food was good. I actually had a pasta dish and kinda changed it a bit and it was good. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals.

I've done lunch here with my 4 yr old dd last August and enjoyed it as well. Quiet, but still some comic relief and my sandwich was delicious!

We were there two years ago in June and had a great time. We did have PS at 5:30 and it was not too crowded. When we arrived they were doing something with the kids, and since we just got seated our girls did not feel comfortable at joining in, BUT, after we ordered our food they asked for all of the moms to do a pony ride around the restaurant. I had to do it (especially after encouraging my girls to participate at every other interactive restaurant that we have been to)! It was a lot of fun!!!! My husband got pictures of me on the stick pony and our girls were just loving every minute of MY pony ride. It was someone's birthday when we were there and he had to do a solo pony ride around the restaurant while singing a song (maybe Happy Birthday to me???). We also enjoyed visiting the resort---we walked down to the pool and saw the geyser. It was a very nice experience.

Hi , we always enjoy the food at the Whispering Canyon, although I do not care for the loudness of the place. A few years ago we discovered that by asking to be seated in the "Fireplace Room" or the "Library" it was a fantastic experience. The food was fantastic! The service was great too. I think that when sitting in these areas the servers know that you are not up for all the antics of children running around. Our last visit was just two weeks ago, we of course asked for the "Library" area and it was no problem. By the way the chicken pasta is fantastic!:)

TripletDad:
I'd respond in detail, but I tend to "down" the place so much that I forget myself.
You've seen the responses so far--do you REALLY want to eat where adults are running around the place on stick-horseys??
I mean--Really???

Yeah do you REALLY want to eat at a fun place where people run around on stick horses and the wait staff is loud and funny. Wouldn't you rather wear a suit and tie and take the triplets to Victoria and Alberts? After all this is Disney and there is no place for running around having fun.

If for some crazy reason you do go don't let your children play with the big lincoln log toy table. That only adds to the noise. And absolutley DO NOT ask for ketchup because your wait person will shout out that your table needs ketchup and a half dozen of those irritating little kids will deliver 15 or 20 bottles to your table. And then when the next table needs ketchup your kids will have to go pull the joke on that table. Yeah my kids really hated that.

Sarcasm aside the food was good especially breakfast(great pine cone shaped waffles). And the atmosphere ( if you have an open mind) was enjoyable. My wife and I also had dinner at Artist Point (sans kids) and it was every bit as enjoyable just a different scene.
