I had planned to book dinner at WCC for my family (me, DH, two boys (6 & 3), ILs and my Mom on our next trip, but as I'm lining up the days and ADRs, it looks like we would have to do lunch there. Looking at the menu, it doesn't appeal as much to me (no pulled pork or brisket on the skillet, no pot roast entree). We will be making the trip from Magic Kingdom over there ... and then either heading back to the park or to our resort (POR). Is it worth it or should I just book lunch at Tony's or LTT? I was mainly doing WCC for the experience for the boys.

Any advice would be appreciated ... I book tomorrow morning and am stressing about all this :)

I love Whispering Canyon, but I'm not sure that I would burn daytime touring time going over there. If you have an unlucky day (as we did once) it could end up eating up 3 hours of your day. It might just be worth the trade-off an stay in the park. We ate at Tony's Town Square once on a day that we really wanted to go to WCC but couldn't get an evening ressie. The food was OK and I was glad that I was able to just step back out into the park. The kids were happy, too!!!

Whispering Canyon is one of our favorite places to eat. Already booked for our next vacation in May. To me it is worth the travel time and I think the boys will love it.

Isn't it great that we all have our opinions? Sometimes they differ, too.

We love Whispering Canyon Cafe! In fact, we just ate lunch there last Sunday. The lunch skillet is good--wonderful ribs, chicken, and pork sausage. I got full on the ribs! They bring more as you finish. I definitely think it's worth leaving the park for. Wilderness Lodge is the most relaxing resort, so it's a great break! Now, if I was using the DDP, I would recommend dinner, but if paying OOP, definitely lunch. Also, if you want a great experience, try to request Hickory as your server.

Hi DisneyStarWisher,

Wondering how was the lunch atmosphere at WCC? Do they still do the Ketchup trick, Pony race etc?

When planning our ADRs the kids' first choice was Whipering Canyon. We have had dinner and lunch there and they were both fantastic. The pony races and whatever lovely tricks that hey do in the evening are also done during lunch. The kids like it for different reasons--my youngest for the races and my oldest for the food and my middle for the bottomless milkshakes... LOL

We love it, too.
The first year, we stayed at Wilderness Lodge, so it wasn't an inconvenience to us.
The second year, we planned a day at MK, but then left for 5:30 p.m. dinner, took the boat ride to WL. It was a great break from the hot parks, and then we were in the mood for more MK time in the evening.
I highly suggest taking the time!

We always enjoy the boat ride from MK to Wilderness Lodge and once you get there you are in another world. For WCC the adults enjoy the food while the kids have a really fun time with all of the entertainment....and then just think you get to re-enter the MK and it is exciting all over again.

Worth the trip and the adventure, I recommend it.

I have to laugh because I made a ADR for WCC and was debating on it. I came on here, searched it, and read a bunch of recent horrible reviews. I canceled the ADR because usually if the reviews are 50/50 we'll still try it, but all I read was bad. Now I read this and I want to get my WCC ADR back.

I need to either stay off DIS or lock away my ADR info and call it permanently done!

I love WCC! I also love the boat ride over from MK. Even thought its "taking time away from park time" I still look at the whole experience as part of our day!! (especially if you stay somewhere where riding a boat is not the norm)

With that being said, I have been there for both dinner and lunch. I was slightly disappointed with the few things missing from the skillet, however I left feeling full and satisfied both times. i did notice a huge difference in the atmosphere of the restaurant. The fun antics seemed to be much stronger at dinner than at lunch. In fact, there was hardly any of the fun going on at lunch. If you are going there for the "experience" i would wait until you could go for dinner... if you are going for the food I would say go for it!

Either way, have a blast!
