We have ADR's for Whispering Canyon Cafe for 1 of our nights of our vacation. I have read where some get the bottomless milk shakes for their drinks. If we get the milk shakes can we also get a cup of ice water with our meal? (I know most places do not charge for a cup of ice water, but not sure about the TS rest.) BTW, we will be on the DDP.

You can definitely get a glass of water free of charge even if you get the bottomless milkshake. I'm a dork, but I always ask for a refill in a to-go cup just before leaving.

I had a bottomless milkshake as my drink and also had a diet coke. I expected to pay for the diet coke, but they did not charge anything when the bill came. So I think ice water would be no problem at all.

We had a milkshake and finished it. Our waiter asked if we wanted another one, but I asked if I could have a diet coke instead. It was not a problem. We weren't charged for it either. I don't think it would be an issue for an ice water.

I remember in the past they always use to bring you water automatically, but now you have to ask for it.

We were there Tuesday and they put ketchup bottles on the table to start with.
And they now have paper napkins, so no twirling anymore.

Why do you think I am expecting to be gouged? If we were going to be charged I wanted to go prepared and have enough money. All I asked was if we would be charged for water if we ordered the milk shakes with our meal? Let me ask you this...Has any restaurant, ever, charged you for a glass of water?

Now, if you don't want the milk shake to be your main drink, then you will probably want to pay for the milk shake if you intend to order another drink in addition to the milkshake, but not water.

I guess you don't get out much.

We are from the UK, and believe it or not it is quite uncommon to ask or get water with a meal here, whereas when I am in the US it is very common, and I have noticed that often it is provided without even asking for it.

Regards checking in advance whether a specific dining item is extra, etc - I understand why you would like to know this in advance (budgets, etc) but to avoid any stress, I always just ask the server if water, coke, more bread rolls, etc is extra or included right at the start of the meal when I make my main order or drinks order.
