We are considering an ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe. Which would you recommend, breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

I voted "do not dine". We had one of our three worse meals at WCC this past September. DH got sick on the chicken and/or ribs in the skillet and the service was absolutely terrible. We won't go back for dinner; but we are willing to try breakfast some time.

Hi there!

I love to try new restaurants and so does my family. We aren't picky eaters except for the fact that I am a vegetarian. I thought that Whispering Canyon would be fun for us, but I was wrong.

We were seated far in the back, away from all the action happening in the main dining room. Our waitress was SO SLOW, and it wasn't even that busy. She reeked of cigarette smoke and was not very attentive. Even though we weren't in the main dining room, the server at the tables near ours was still having fun with her customers. When we started to laugh at what she was saying to her tables, our waitress noticed and said things like, "Oh yeah, did you want ketchup?" When obviously we already saw what happened if we did need ketchup!

My dad ordered the skillet which he enjoyed. We all shared some of it and I really liked the potatoes and cornbread.

My brother ordered the Peel N Eat shrimp from the children's menu and didn't really like it. (And yes, he WAS aware that he would have to peel it himself before eating it!)

My mom and I both ordered the Vegetable Enchiladas and they were pretty disgusting. My mom took two bites before deciding to share the skillet with my dad. I tried to finish my meal but could only stomach about 10 bites.

I will say that the desserts we had were great. Since there were 4 of us, we got one of each and shared. They were all delicious but the cinnamon tortilla was the best!

I know this was a pretty long explanation, but I just wanted to let you know WHY I voted for you not to dine there. A lot of people do have good experiences, so if you are interested in dining here than you should try it for yourself. I was not going to book the meal based on the reviews here, but I know everyone has different tastes and opinions so we gave it a shot anyways.

If you decide to dine here, I hope you have a better experience than we did!!

I also voted do not dine here. We had dinner there at last Monday and it was one of the worst meals I ever had on property. The service was very slow. From the time we finished our desserts to the time we walked out it took 45 minutes for our bill to arrive and we were on the dining plan. I ordered the ribs and they were some of the worst I ever tasted. They were very fatty and I did not care for the rub they used. My DW did not care for the skillet she could not eat anymore than a few bites of it. The best part were the milkshakes.

I did not vote, but wanted to say that whenever you choose to go, make sure it is prime time. What I mean is that we went for a late lunch. My kids were soooo disappointed. The restaurant was almost empty and obviously the waitress was tired. My kids had heard me talk about WC before we left and couldn't wait to ask for water or ketchup. When they tried to ask (I think for ketchup), she said- that's only at dinner time. There were no horse races-nothing.

I don't mean to sound bitter, we were just disappointed with our server- she had a lousy attitude. I wish I could remember the meal, but I can't.

When we were planning our ADR's for our upcoming trip, I asked my DH (who complains about NOTHING) about going to WC, again, and he just said- no.

I would like to try it again, but I would schedule it at a busy hour.
Good Luck:goodvibes

Without knowing more about you, its hard for us to recommend anything here. I voted for "do not dine" because I chose restaurants according to the quality of food and service. For us, the "antics" don't make up for just mediocre food.

However, your group might enjoy the antics more than us and you might find this place fun.

I also voted do not dine here. We are a family of 4 and we waited almost 60 minutes. Our family and one other family of 3 were left waiting like this. CMs walking around us like it was no big deal. When we were finally seated, the food was awful and the service was slow.....

Never again.

I voted for dinner. We have dined here three times in the past and have always enjoyed skillet dinner. Try it and see for yourself!:goodvibes

I voted for dinner. A lot of people have commented on how they were dissapointed in either the food or the lack of antics that go on. Well each time we have been there (which have been about 3 times now) we have had very funny waiters/waitresses, the food is very good, and it is a must do every time we are at WDW. We have also been there for breakfast and my whole family loves the breakfast skillet, it has something for everyone. We like it so much that I have an ADR for both Dinner and breakfast when we are there this March.

Although I have yet to eat here, I voted dinner because unless you're staying at the WL, BF and Lunch don't make much sense. You'd have to travel resort to resort (hard) for BF or leave a park (probably MK) to have lunch there. Dinner on the other hand could be had after a day at the parks, having a nice dinner, then hitting the EMH's :cool1: .

I have read both good and bad about WCC, but I will make up my own mind during my next trip.

My DS4 and I are doing WCC for dinner, mostly because we're staying at the WL Villas. The plan is to head back to the resort after a morning and early afternoon at a park, relax a bit, and then go out to WCC in a refreshed and awesome mood ready to have fun (we're going on a "Boys Only" trip this May). Hopefully we'll rub off on our server!

I've been to most restaurants at WDW (pretty much every one in a park and in the BW area) and now I'm working on checking off every one at a resort. While I'm sure the food won't be as good as a filet at "Le Celier" or a 2TS place like CG, Narcoosee's, etc., we like the variety of trying new places. That is my goal each and every trip to WDW. To eat someplace I've never been at before. Sometimes the results are good (Le Celier, Cape May and Spoodles our last trip were excellent) and sometimes they are bad (Big River Grille was gross :crazy2:)

Of course we do fit in the favorites and must do's too! ;)

Whatever you decide, don't let a bad meal ruin a good time. Its bound to happen. Hope you have a good trip. :goodvibes

I voted for breakfast but I seriously considered voting for do not dine at WCC. The breakfast is decent but personally I think the food served at dinner is not good at all. WCC is one of those places that people either love the food or hate it, personally I just didn't like it at all. We got the skillet and all of the food was greasy, even the corn was greasy.

Thanks to all of you who voted and replied. I did decide to book us for dinner around 5 pm one night. Even though many of you had less than great experiences for one reason or another, I want to resort hop a bit to check out the other resorts and we do like the menu here. I hope we are not sorry!

We love eating breakfast at the WCC....The breakfast food is very good and the atmophere is a really fun way to start a day or end a vacation...We have stayed at the WL three times and all three times we ended our trip with a breakfast trip to the WCC...We love the fun atmosphere...

We do not really like lunch there because it is very quiet there in the middle of the day...We have also been for dinner a few times...We always had a good time...The menu is a bit small...The food is not fancy but was always good when we went...I had one bad dessert once...

Always good service with nothing over the top.

We've had both breakfast and dinner(2X) here. It was 2 and 3 years ago, though. We really enjoyed it the first time we went for dinner 3 yrs ago. We stayed at WL 2 yrs ago and had both bfast and dinner while there. Dinner was a lot of fun with games for the kids (we were w/ my cousin and her family- CMs did stick horse parades and simon says, all the kids got a wooden nickel as a prize for playing) The kids loved the antics during dinner (super lg. coke for my DH, asking for straws or ketchup). Milkshakes were especially YUMMY. Breakfast was good too- the chef prepared me a veggie omelet that was not on the menu- it was very very good. I don't remember if the games were played for bfast- I don't think so but I could be mistaken. It seemed more low key which suited us fine for bfast.

They have games at breakfast :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We have been four times for breakfast...All four times they had the pony races and some other activities going on...It was lively (some may say loud) and lots of fun for our boys!

I would suggest asking to be seated in the back if you want to more quiet experience...We were seated in the back room for dinner on our honeymoon..It was very relaxed back there ;)
