Does anyone have a link or can post the "hints" for WCC? i.e. asking for ketchup, etc. I know that all of the "extras" are not guaranteed, I just can't remember what they are.

allears.net has them, I think on the menu page for WCC

Besides ketchup ( DD loves ketchup asked for it without us telling her what was going to happen so it was even funnier!) My kids asked for straws and napkins and had them both thrown at them which they thought was hysterical!:thumbsup2

We were quietly chowing down at WCC and some guy (not our waitress, Julia) came up and put this on my husbands head:

Whats even better was that it would barely fit on my husbands head :lmao: the waiter was having to shove it down to keep it from popping off. I almost choked it was so funny.

We'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge and we have dinner reservations and breakfast reservations at the Whispering Canyon. For all of you who have eaten there, how's the food?

We all enjoyed the food but we are from the south and love that type of food. The ribs were wonderful (falling off the bone), the pulled pork was great and the shrimp were really good. I loved the mashed potatoes but the beans werent that great. If you really like meat then you will enjoy your dinner.

Just a fair warning that not all of the waiters partake in the hilarity of silliness. We had a waiter who clearly seemed embarrassed by all the shenanigans going on around him, and barely told a joke or two. We ended up asking other passing waiters for things like catsup, and they obliged with the expected yelling and cavorting, altho some were reluctant to do so. One flat out told us to make such requests to our own waiter, and we playfully ignored his advice. Just keep that in mind: the waitstaff are very uneven in their willingness to act out for your entertainment.

If you look at our trip report for our last trip you will get a good idea of what to expect, we loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious. The CMs were wonderful and the kids had a hoot with the Pony Express rides around the dining room:lmao: :lmao: It's a definite "must do" for all our future trips and really easy to get to via the ferry from the MK which ran about every 10-15 minutes. Our DS got his certificate which he keeps in his stash of "holiday memories" bits and pieces.

My family will soon be enjoying our first stay at WL and we are eagerly awaiting our WCC ressie. Having never been there before, please explain what the "certificate" is.

On another note, I note your location and have seen news reports that there was an earthquake in the North East of the U.K. I hope that you and yours are safe.

We loved the food here, we are going back this year and can't wait! We went in '06 with free dining and loved all of the restaurants we ate at, but this is the only restaurant our three girls asked specifically to go to this trip. You'll have a blast, Loved it!

Oh, you are MORE than welcome. My dh would probably die if he knew I had this pic plastered all over the internet. :lmao: :rotfl2:

You are so right and I was surprised by that. We brought DD4 there earlier this month, and it was a waste.

After waiting for a table for about 45 minutes (with an ADR), we were finally seated outside of the main dining room where there are a few tables near the lounge. That may be good for adults only, but not a child, so we asked to wait for another table. After some hesitation, and warnings that they couldn't say how long we would have to wait, we were given a new table in about 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, I think the quiet table might have been more lively. Our waiter clearly didn't get the memo that this was supposed to be a loud, fun restaurant.

I had read that the experience there really depends on your waiter, but I couldn't believe there was that much difference among them until I saw it myself. Some waiters were laughing, joking and teasing. Ours -- not so much. This seems like a quality control/management issue that needs to be addressed.

The Pony Express Certificate states:-

This here certificate is proof that I rode the
Pony Express Ride in the New Century
at the Whispering Canyon Cafe in
Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort

signed Buffalo Bill
William F. Cody
Station Superintendent

Each child who takes part will receive one at the end of the "ride".
We couldn't help grinning and laughing as the kids went around the restaurant, we cheered all the kids on.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Be warned if you don't encourage the kids you could be made to ride the hobby horse around the whole of the lobby and the restaurant too..:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We're taking my dad to WCC in December - ha has no idea what goes on at the restaurant but he'll love it!!

I really hope we get a server who at least plays along a little bit...

We ate there the last night of our trip (September 8) and it was the worse meal of the trip (DH was sick the whole night). I haven't gotten to my review of it yet on the Dining Review page as I'm going in order of best to worse...and it is at the bottom of the list.
