Whispering Canyon Cafe - Fun or do they go to far?

I voted "not fun" but not because they go too far. We've been 4 times and never gotten a fun server. My boys get sad that everyone around them is on the receiving end of the ketchup or crayon or drink antics and they are not. My 8-year-old said he didn't want to return this year and I was relieved to hear it!

We have never been for dinner (only breakfast) - but from what I have read, your server can make or break your experience.

Totally agree. We had a rotten server. She threw some straws, and that was pretty much it. We enjoyed watching the other servers around us though

We went for lunch as well and it seemed very low-key. Some of the servers were very funny though. Sadly, ours was neither funny nor very attentive. We thought the food was good though and my youngest did join in a hoola hoop contest another server started. She is normally very shy so it was fun to see her come out of her shell and hula. I was thankful the other server pulled her into their fun. Our server was a dud.

The food and service is terrible here. The entertainment is not over the top, however.

Both times we went there, they were very sensitive to their guests. The first time was for dinner; it was our first day there, and we were absolutely exhausted from getting up at 1:00 AM to make our flight to Orlando. We got no more antics than the tossing of (wrapped) straws on our table, plus the usually patter.

The time we had breakfast there, again, our server didn't engage in very many "antics," until we started playing around a bit.

As for the food....it was OK. Nothing special. We will go back some day, but it's not on our list for frequent repeats.

We've had a great time and an awful time so really it's a flip of the coin as to what you'll get. Be sure to let them know you'll ONLY be seated in the main dining room. I do not think the fun is over the top at all. Food is okay.

We are planning on going in Dec. mostly because of the antics so I do hope we are not disappointed. My dear hubby loves ketchup on everything so I have not told him about any of the antics and am looking forward for him to be embarrassed
What else to they do to embarrass diners, I want to plull out out the stops

When we ate there, we had a fun server. I was hesitant to eat there after reading posts about it, but we were staying at the WL and decided to try it. I even mentioned something to our server about what I'd read in the course of conversation. She was great and made sure we had fun, especially when I had our then 7yo DS ask for ketchup. I could not believe the way she yodeled the word and for how long she could draw it out. It was hilarious! And boy did we get the ketchup!!

So when we get to the podium should I ask for a "Fun" CM?

I can definately understand what you guys are saying we had an ok CM at 50's Primetime. She was more interested in flirting with another table then entertaining the other tables she had. It was kinda disappointing, but the food was really good. We are going back again and hopefully will have a better waitress this time around.

I'm one of the "not fun" votes.
In fact, it was downright miserable and we couldn't wait for breakfast to be over so we could get out! They actually left us alone for the most part(except for calling me "Pardner" and Mrs U "Little lady". But the goings on around the restaurant made it almost impossible to enjoy the food (which, I may add, wasn't that good). For hours afterwards I had "YI Hah!!" and the sound of serving trays being hammered on the floor ringing in my ears.
And if you ask why I was dumb enough to go in the first place, the answer is that I never bothered to find out that the "antics" weren't just confined to lunch and dinner. I never really suspected they would inflict that sort of punishment on people trying to eat breakfast at the only spot they CAN have a real breakfast at The Wilderness.
BUt NOW I know!!!

I don't think the food is great. However The entertainment is just silly fun. We are the type of family that interacts and talks to anyone. No shy kids around here. Prime Time Cafe is our favorite on property, so WWC is another source of entertainment to us.

I'm a huge WCC fan but I will only go if I have Bobby the kid as my server. He isn't working our family doesn't even sit down. Usually I confirm that he is working before we head over for dinner. Last time he wasn't working so we didn't even bother.

We had the skillet and all 6 of us liked it very much. The "antic" were great- my daughter asked for a large coke and the server said "oh are you thirsty" and the soda he brought her was GIANT! There must have been 2 liters of coke in there! Then when she asked for ketchup we ended up with 14 bottles of it! Our server was awesome with the kids and I would certainly go back there next time we go!

Me and mine have mixed views on WCC. I did not want to go last year because of all the "antics" (am a v shy person) but now having read other reviews and posting questions I have booked our ADR for Dec (with the intention of asking for a quiet server). My only other question now is has the quality of the food gone downhill since last year? I love the idea of the skillet as it has all my fav foods in it.
