Hi there, this will be our first trip to the world with 3 generations going! My DH's b-day falls on our first full day. I'm looking for something fun for the kids and with nothing exotic on the menu. DH is very meat and potatoes! We're staying at shades of green so I'm also looking for something fairly reasonable to get to time wise. Does whispering canyon fit the bill? Any suggestions/opinions much appreciated!:goodvibes

It's good food & good fun. Also 50's Prime Time is really good to.

That's a perfect choice for his 40th birthday! Your kids will have a blast as your waiter/waitress will make sure he's thoroughly embarassed!! We went with some friends a few years ago and have taken the kids. Both visits were quite fun. Here's a picture of my friend after asking for a toothpick. The food is good and basic, especially if you order the skillet plate which is a sampling of various barbequed meats served with salad, cornbread, mashed potatoes and even corn on the cob.

Hey, I was thinking of going there for MY 40th birthday dinner on December 14th! So I guess I am looking for comments here too.

Also, considering trying to make Spectro, which will likely be at 7 PM if it plays that night. If we needed to eat at 5 PM, would the festivities in the restaurant still be pretty wild? Also, same question if we did a late-lunch instead, is it still rowdy at lunch-time...anyone, anyone?

The kids love this place and the food will probably be perfect for your family. It was noisier than I prefer but that is part of the appeal and I am way out numbered in my family and so we will be going back!

I'm in the minority. We did not like it at all. Waited much too long for our table (over 35 minutes); service was terrible, food was mediocre at best (DH actually got sick on the meat in the skillet) and we saw NONE of the antics everyone talks about (we went on a Monday at 5:30). I think there are betterplaces to celebrate a 40th birthday...but just my opinion.

Give yourself plenty of time here (atleast 2 hours) . With the high demands of ketchup and drink refills ;) things take a long time. Not in a bad way though. I loved this restaurant! Very fun! Keep in mind that if you are using disney transportation you need to take a boat from MK to get there.... So if you are planing for that 7pm spectro... a late lunch may be the way to go. 4pm?

Our family (ME, DH39, DS10, DS7 & DS7) REALLY enjoyed our last visit there in December '08......
The skillet is awesome!
Our server was tons of FUN! :lmao:
My boys LOVED the antics with ketchup! :rotfl:
And don't forget to order a YUMMY milkshake!:drinking1

oooooo that's a good one! Be sure and tell someone when you get there that he's shy, with a great big wink.

Here is what the main portion of the skillet looks like! We had a great time there and had a wonderful waitress. I got a certificate for being her helper and showing my new 300 or so new friends how to do the Hokey Pokey! YIKES!!! Too much fun we had!
