They really embarrassed my son (who was 11, the last time we ate there)...first, they noticed he was cold and brought him a HUGE wool blanket and wrapped him in his 'blankie'...then he happened to glance to his right (at nothing in particular)......well there was a pretty girl about the same age sitting at the table to the right....the entire rest of the dinner, the servers were prodding him to just "Go for it and ask her out on a date"... then they tricked them into standing together to see if they would make a good couple and had the 'audience' vote on it....drilled them with obvious questions to prove they were 'made for eachother'...asked if either was married ......LOL, they also noticed he didn't have his 'blankie' on anymore and said something like "Alot warmer standing next to HER, huh?"...
Honestly, I was surprised at how well my son and the girl took it, they really handled it well for 'tweeners' (who are generally humiliated by breathing in public)...the wait staff was relentless!!...but it was all in good fun and we had a great time...
This restaurant is not for people who do not like attention. The more embarrassed you act, the more they ride you....If you cannot stand being 'on stage' or being the 'butt' of the joke, avoid the WC. It is all in fun, nothing ignorant...but it isn't for people who cringe at the thought of being singled out...
(Steve, I like your idea about asking ahead of time to be left alone, but I do wonder if that would make you a more likely target?)
