Hey all,
I'm getting close to my trip to the world and I'm making a little short list of places that I'd like to eat at just so that I don't miss any in a hunger induced fuzziness (last time I missed so many!!) and I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the whipped cream that is used at places like the Funnel Cake carts, Beaches and Cream and the Plaza Ice Cream Parlour is actual whipped cream, or Cool Whip type stuff from a can?

Here in Australia, a lot of places use heavy cream that is pressurized in a bottle looking thing with a nozzle and a gas bottle that then squirts out whipped cream, but the odd place will use that horrible stuff from a can that isn't actually whipped cream, but some imitation grossness, and I cant eat that without wanting to throw it back up.

Any info would be great!!
Thanks guys!!

We got a strawberry whipped cream waffle at Sleepy Hallow in MK yesterday and it was real whipped cream. It's an open kitchen so you can see the whole prep process. They were using Dean's brand whipped light cream from the nozzled bottle. It was delicious.

Jes, the can stuffed here if it's the pressurized variety is real whipped cream and not imitation products as you might find aroudn your part of the world. The stuff you need to watch out for here is the spooned on variety in a plastic tub, that's the fake stuff... americans like their sugary cream (have you noticed our average body type?)

Actually most of the stuff in cans is junk. HFCS, preservatives (the Deans stuff has polysorbate 80 according to their site), etc. things like reddiwhip, you're lucky if they even have dairy.

I think it's been Starbucks that has helped the situation, as they started using cream (sweetened) in refillable pressurized containers.

I can't speak for WDW because we just don't get whipped cream unless it's from sbux. And that is because of the cruddy ingredients. Dh and DS can't have anything based on corn syrup, and most of the American whipped "cream" canisters contain that.

A non American is right to be concerned about it! An Irish friend told me it takes him a week to get used to eating here because everything is so sweet. Even the bread is sweeter than at home.

I'm headed to mk in about an hour so let me go ask all the allergy questions and get a more definitive answer on this. I'm also allergic to corn and its never bothered me so let me find out exactly what everyone is using.. @Princess Jes do you know any of the places your thinking of that are in MK? Is there anywhere other than star bucks and the ice cream shop that even has whipped cream? (oh maybe dole whips, i'll find out there also).

FYI: email guest services and ask them this very question jes, they will be able to help you more on what to avoid and what to ask for if they offer alternatives (and what they are)

Thanks Bryan!
I was thinking of sleepy hollow for a funnel cake.

Anything in a profiles can is out for me, it's not "real"
The way Starbucks do it, in those refillable gas cans, that they pour actual cream into, that's the good stuff. I don't mind that it's got sugar added, I just can't stand that imitation crud! Lol

I feel like if you can see the brand of the nozzled bottle, it's what I'm talking about.
It's hard to explain and I can't post a picture from my phone, but anything that resembles Cool Whip, I can't eat it :(

I wish I could remember where it was, but I had one dessert that had nasty whipped topping on it. I had to scrape it off because it tasted so plastic. But most of the time, I've had something that resembled real cream.

Thanks Bryan!

No.. whipped cream doesnt belong on funnel cakes.... is that how they serve it?

I'm guessing that anywhere other than a signature restaurant is using prepared (pre-made) whipped cream, from a can.

In the US, Cool Whip brand comes in a tub. Pre-filled, single use pressurized cans can be fake or real, depending on brand. I've never heard of the refillable ones being fake stuff, but I suppose anything is possible.

Personally, I think whipped cream is a waste of calories no matter what's in it. It's either artificial or, if it's real, it's bland and flavorless (or the flavor is lost compared to what it's being used on). Depending on how my calorie consumption has been going, I'll often scrape it off desserts and leave it over.

Just because it is in a can doesn't mean it isn't real whip cream. Reddi wip or something similar is usually what is served

I have only seen cool whip In a tub.

Oh well that's just my lack of brand knowledge then, I just used cool whip as an example because it's the only brand I knew of.

I'll just have to ask each place before I order anything I think

Cool Whip is a non-dairy product that is basically whipped oil with flavoring.

Reddi-wip is real cream propelled out of its can with nitrous oxide.

IDK what kinds of whipped toppings Disney restaurants use though.

Beaches & Cream uses Reddi Whip--real cream from a can.
We ALSO avoid Cool Whip & high fructose corn syrup.

Oh, you will want to skip those famous dole whips! They are 100% artificial--NO dairy whatsoever!!

I'm ok with soft serve, and it's not a health food choice or anything, it's just something about imitation cream (that stuff that's white as white can be, and an odd consistency, like semi liquid marshmallow or something?) that I can't handle. Something about it makes me sick.

Dole whips are 100% fine!! Lol

While they have no dairy, that doesn't mean they're artificial. It does have both natural and artificial flavor, and other natural ingredients like sugar and coconut oil.

Which is not to say it's healthy.

Also, Reddi-Wip has corn syrup (but not high fructose corn syrup as far as I know).
