There’s an itch in the back of my throat and I don’t think it’s going away.
Oh and my eyes keep watering.

I've 2 dozen shucked Kumamoto oysters in the fridge that I’m pretty sure I can’t taste.
Also cherrystones which are less delicate than the oysters but but it’s 9:50 and no home attendant has made an appearance so no one to chop the veggies with me.
I DESPISE counting on others because they could be unfreakingreliable

Alright the salmon can hold for a day or two; same for the poached shrimp and lobster tails.
No sauces made yet so that’s good.

I’m sure there is a way out of this but just feel like throwing a temper tantrum. Let’s compose self and see what plan b has in store.

My mother fell down three times yesterday and needed to be picked up .... the last one was at 2am... i was in a dead sleep when the Lifeline Care Center called (thank goodness for that little button) and NOT at my best form... Now I am on the heating pad while complaining.... I mean sharing....

Hehehe….yeah we’re sharing never complaining 😆
Your mom has balance problems? Maybe time for an ear exam.

She is 90... most everything is a problem. To be fair, fall is a very dramatic term. Only one was really a fall, and she is only 4'8 so it is a very short distance. The others were more slide off the bed/chair from a seated position while getting up and not at all traumatic. And not to sound nonchalant, I love my Mom dearly, she lives with us and I am her caregiver. But 90 is 90.

She is very good at falling and not getting hurt lol... she would say it is because she was a ballet dancer... I think it is more because she is really short and we have a lot of carpets.

I rarely get headaches and took a COVID test to be sure. So far negative but the truth of the matter is I need to make some phone calls and cancel. The man’s BF became a hermit during the pandemic and I just coaxed him out of his shell to spend the evening with others. I regret disinviting him the most but it is what it is.

Decided the oysters will become a pie (mashed potato leftovers in the fridge yeah!) and all the ingredients are here. The clams were meant to be chowder and so they will be. Some of the guests live in the building so I’ll just give them food and hustle them out the door. Heck I could give them one of the bottles of champagne but err not delirious yet 🤣

Home attendant made an appearance at 10:42 (yep. I’m watching the clock.) and seems reasonable. She’s Muslim from her garb so think I’ll take the bacon outta the pie. No sense in having anyone go into a tizzy besides me Yeah but I wanted the bacon!?! Sniffle, sniffle, get over yourself.

Oh that sucks @NYCgrrl....hope you feel better! My 92 year old FIL started with a sore throat on Friday afternoon....shaking chills by yesterday and tested positive last night. It's *everywhere* right now. Hope you have a happy new year despite the illness!

@Suger Mag, I can also relate. Mom lived with me and I was her caretaker, too. She lived to 94. It was rough at times. Lots of falls, too, once with me standing right there. I wish you and your Mom the best. :flower3:

My recent bout started with the scratchy throat and then the headache and stuffy head, etc. Fatigue has been a big one for me this time, too. I hope you feel better, and sorry you had to cancel and disinvite. This time of year stinks in terms of illness. This is around the time we see people coming down with things after the Christmas get-togethers.

Thank you. Life is a journey. Every day that we get to walk the earth together is a gift.

Being a caregiver is hard, but rewarding and humbling. Aging and death is something that awaits all of us in one way or another. LOL and on that cheery note....

Happy New Year to you and yours!!

As you guys have seen in my other thread, I'm currently complaining about CoViD. Throat like knives, fruity cough (which, along with swallowing, hurts like hell), dizziness, headache, all over soreness, shivering...

But as I said, I know people who weren't so lucky. I should count my lucky stars I live in an age of vaccines etc.
