While we are on the Pinpics Subject

I have a few questions to pose and favors to ask. Tis the season you know. LOL

When you are looking at a pin group and you click on pin picture it brings up the page with the pin details, but does not give you the ability to add or remove from your wants and owns list. I know you get this when you do a search for a pin, by name or number, but not when you select a group.

With the database getting larger and large, would it be possible to have a rule that pins can't get added until they have been released. I know for me, I try to maintain my wants and needs through a chronolgical knowledge of when pins come out, but since pins are being added months in advance it gets harder move go through your inventory and update. The search engine is the only way at this point, otherwise it takes hours to through all of the pages. Just a thought.

Do we really need to have AP pins listed separate from the individual pin? Can this be added to the original pin somehow to reflect that you have an AP or something like that. I know its a database and to add a field like that is a huge undertaking, but the reality is there is probably an AP for every pin out there.

I kept to my wishes to a few. Any other thoughts or comments?

All those things are on the list of improvements that we want to make..

The being able to add the pins to your collection from Pin Groups will be coming very very soon. Britt says as soon as there is a small breather at work and the holidays are over he will get to that and a few other thing on the HIGH priority list.

The APs are going to a lot lot harder. I understand the reason that people want them in the database if they are in their collection as well as for pure knowledge purposes and at this point since there isn't a way to add it to the main pin listing we are allowing them to be added as different pins.. Hopefully that will change this year but that will be a major undertaking as it means completely rewriting the way that PinPics sorts and stores the data and Britt just doesn't have that kind of time right now.

For the next Six Months there will not a lot of changes to the way that the PinPics Database works the things that will be coming are the following:

Subscription to a Palm Picture Database
Being able to edit collection from Pin Groups
Mail system that will make all PinPics mail inhouse
A box in the TA that allows you include a personnal message
in your requests such as "I would do mulitple pins for this one"
ReOrginization of the Pin Groups into Cat. (this will not affect them just make them easier to find)

That is the list of things that we are absolutely going to get to in the next six months other than that I can't give any guarantees.

Any thoughts on waiting for the pin to be released before it becomes active in the database?

I am not inclined to make that rule at this time. Since quite a bit of our info comes from Disney it typically only comes once and it would be putting the ones not yet released in a different email folder and going back through it constantly trying to figure out when it was released then adding it. When it was done the other way the pins were added to PinPics sometimes weeks after they were released where as how it is now we are pretty much up to date with the pins as they come out and it is rare that we miss one.

I know it makes it more difficult to keep track but one suggestion is to make a pin as a want when it is first put in the database that way when it comes out you don't have to search the whole thing for you can simply say show me my wants and it will show them to you allowing you to edit them more quickly in the have or trade Cat....

Hey Figgy,

Would it be too much trouble to move the "Search for Pingroups by member" box to the top of the Pin Groups page? I use that to get to my own pin groups, the private ones and it would be easier not to have to scroll down the page to find it. Especially as the list has gotten larger and larger.

Lisa, I have an idea. You can send all of your pins to me and then I'll put them in PinPics for you. And then after a while you will forget about pins and I will keep them as a wonderful Xmas present. LOL
