I'm trying to narrow down our list of must rides for our one day at DL this August. We'll be there on a Thursday, so I don't know what to expect for lines, and we are hoping to make it back out to LA by 7 PM that night (rehearsal dinner). This is our current list of must rides, but if any seem removable please let me know. The only must is Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. We will arrive at opening and hope to be done no later than 4 PM. Thanks.

Enchanted Tiki Room
Indiana Jones Adventure
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
Alice in Wonderland
"it's a small world"
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Storybook Land Canal Boats
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin

Go to Matterhorn first, it is not fastpassed.

Consider having a member of your party run over to Indiana Jones and HM (it is unnconnected FP I believe - check first) and grab fastpasses and run back. (I hate lines and would rather do a little running to eliminate long waits)

Realistically. you could do the Fantasyland stuff EARLY (park opening) in the day and knock them off your list quickly. I would delete Pinnochio/Snow White and add Peter Pan. I would go to Peter Pan first - it is slow loading and lines up quickly. Fantasyland gets out of hand quickly with crowds, so go early go fast.

Checkout threads regarding connected and unconnected FP machines to maximize you park visit..

The other possible "must do" is Splash Mountain.

Consider haveing lunch at the Golden Horseshoe and see Billy Hill and the Hillbillies - they are a hoot, and if you are gonna have lunch anyway - why not?

Have fun!

Here is what we do when we arrive at park opening.

In this order, pick up FP for Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion (Pirates and HM are not connected to the system). Continue walking and ride Splash Mountain and Winnie the Pooh. As you walk back toward the hub ride HM, Pirates and Indy. You may be able to do all of these rides in the first hour.

Next ride Matterhorn and then the rides in Fantasyland. While waiting in line for Peter Pan, send a member of your family for FP tickets to Roger Rabbit. End your day with the Tiki Room - you can enjoy a dole whip while you wait for the show.

We're probably atypical, but we would try to also do Autopia, Jungle Cruise, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

I would definitely not budge on Tiki Room, since it's going to close soon after for some time.

Tink, I am going to try that out next trip for sure!!! However, since the OP didn't mention a few of those rides, I would go to the matterhorn first, then ride Alice, and the rest of Fantasyland and it's a small world. As tink mentioned, you may want to grab a fastpass for Indiana sometime first thing in the morning. The other day (on a weekend) we got there at park opening and hit the matterhorn (3 times in a row) then knocked out Fantasyland, then went to adventure land and knocked a few out there before going over to an 11:30 lunch at Ariel's in GC. All of this with 17 people in our group and mostly kids under the age of 5. Getting there early is teh key and you should do just fine!! Have fun!!!

Thank you all, I think it may be our best bet to start in Fantasyland, after grabbing FP for Roger Rabbit. Then once we're done with Fantasyland and Roger Rabbit head straight to Indiana Jones for FP, then ride PotC, HM and see Tiki Room while waiting for the FP time to come up, who knows may be even get lunch. I'm so nervous, I was originally going to spend the whole day and then the bride asked us to join at the rehearsal dinner and told me how much it would mean to her for us to be there. So of course, I've got to go.

I thought I had heard that they had gotten rid of Mr Toad's Wild Ride? Does anyone know for sure? We are going in Dec. and were disappointed that it may not be there. Debby

I am not sure if Toon Town opens at the same time as the rest of Disneyland. Does someone know for sure?

I think you're right - when we were there over spring break we wanted to try and get toon town in early - but it did not open for an hour after the rest of the park.
