Visiting April 1 - 8 with wife and 2 little princesses (ages 2 and 5):

1) Port Orleans Riverside Royal Guest Room with Water View (this is already booked)

2) Bay Lake Towers Studio (standard room)

The costs are pretty comparable renting points at BLT.

Bay Lake towers just because the monorail is so much easier than the buses. Or do you have a car? If you have a car I would say whichever is cheaper cause we have stayed in both and really liked them equally for different reasons.

I would switch to Bay Lake Towers. the pool looks nice, and the location is unbeatable.
I did this switch too just recently. Went from POFQ to BCV. My DS9 is an Epcot and HS fool. I tihnk that although the decor isn't as Disney as POR Royal, you will be pleased overall. And to be able to start your first day with Chef Mickey's... priceless.

I'd also go with BLT! Such a great location and the monorail can't be beat. You'll have easy access to many more restaurants with the GF and Poly so close, too. :)

Go back 2 pages some asked about BLT or Mods.

Love BLT , can't beat location, my kids love the pool at BLT, and walking to MK, and watching wishes from your balcony avoiding the crowds priceless

I would go with Bay Lake Tower because of the walkway to the Magic Kingdom and Resort Monorail access from the Contemporary.

Are you talking about this April? Have you checked availability for BLT SV, that's usually one of the first categories to sell out (usually at the 11-month mark and almost always by the 7-month mark). This close, their MAY be availability in a lake view room at BLT, but that costs more points.

Thanks Missy and everyone else who commented.

I haven't checked about SV availability. I was looking at the dvcrequest.com quotes for rooms for the dates we will be there (4/1 - 4/8). As you mention, there may not be availability.

However, based on all the opinions we may look at doing BLT for our next trip (and will book early).

There's no availability at BLT for DVC during that time period. The only way to get it would be to rent an already made reservation from someone. Glad you already booked POR!

I'm going to against the majority and say keep your POR reservation. First, you may not get a BLT studio at this late date. Second, those studio rooms are incredibly small, esp. for 4 people. We own there, but won't likely stay again purely because of the studio size. A room at Holiday Inn is bigger.

I would also pick POR with the royal room type you have reserved for your princesses. I don't really care much for the studios at BLT. You have to pull out the sofa bed every night and the rooms are small and IMO only suitable for two people to be really comfortable- not even a family like yours with very small children. It may be a blessing in disguise that there's no availability at BLT. I think you'll really enjoy the relaxing feeling at POR which you'll want after being in the busy parks and their food court is just wonderful.

Just wanted to add that I think your current reservation is the best option. I really want to stay at BLT at some point but the Royal Guest rooms seem like they will be so FUN! I bet your girls will really love it. POR is also so far my favorite that I have stayed at so far...just a great resort overall. It's been a while since I stayed there now but I visited on my last trip and it looked the same to me.

Just keep in mind that if you want to rent points you do need to plan far in advance and make sure that your plans are definite and set in stone before booking because it is extremely rare that you will be able to change or cancel and get a refund.

Have a great trip!

I'd say keep the reservation that you have. Your little girls will love being in a princess room. BLT is nice and in a good location but it looks like a condo you could rent anywhere-well except for the Disney decor. I'm a 54 year old princess and while my plans for this trip are set, next time my 18 yo princess and I want to stay in a royal room.
