Which would you do? 2 value rooms OR 1 FW cabin?

We have the option of doing one or the other - for our family this fall.

Which would you do, and why?

I'd like the space of the cabin, but I hesitate because I don't want to HAVE to rend a golf cart to get around. :(

Plus, don't the boats only start a certain amount of time after the park opens or something?

I don't want to take busses because we'll have two in strollers, and, frankly, it's a PITA.

So, what would you do - even if you weren't me and didn't have kids to contend with?

Which is more important to you - convenience, or peace? I haven't stayed at either, but it seems to me the value rooms offer more convenience (two bathrooms, don't have such a long walk to the bus stop, etc.) and the cabins offer peace and quiet.

You are also going to have to take into consideration how often and how much you will use the kitchen. For me the biggest choice would be two bathrooms vs. one kitchen.

Depending on which loop and cabin you are assigned, it could take some serious walking and internal bus just to get to the bus/boat that you will take to the parks. In the fall it is not as big a deal as in it is in the summer. But I chose not to deal with it in AUG.

Very good points.

I think we could survive without the kitchen because we're doing the dining plan and will likely have more than enough to eat with that.

We're going the first week of October, so it may still be hot.

I wonder if I requested a cabin near the dock (like 100 or 200) what my chances are of actually getting that.

It WOULD make a big difference - if we had to walk all over in the campgrounds just to get to the dock.

depends on importance to you...space or ammenities or what have you..are you renting a car/driving? Do you want 2 baths or do you want a kitchen if you want to cook? Do you like privacy or action? Do your kids love the themes of the values? I know mine do but I over ruled them and went to a monorail resort because location was my #1 concern...I also hear you don't necessarily want to be in a big storm in a cabin, so consider that...but the space is very nice and lots of sleeping room for all and a kitchen...HMMM if I had a car, in the fall with the three girls I would say cabin and dh would say cabin but I know my kids would say value resort...good luck! I find it amazing that Disney does not offer more affordable space for bigger families...that is just crazy that a studio will run you SOOO MUCH money...now put a 1 br in a value and everyone under the sun with more than three kids would be on that...and price it as a deluxe studio or cheaper!! Very hard to find accomodations for large families onsite for a reasonable amt...if it were not for free dining or dining package being so low I would probably be forced to go to BV Suites or something. I am already wondering how the 5 of us are going to survive...5 Disney fan family members enter only one leaves the room!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: hoping to be so sleepy no one will care too much!

As far as I know, there are no cabins near the dock (in 100 or 200 loops).

But, you can request a cabin near a bus stop. Usually, the FW buses are not as crowded as the Value Resort buses tend to get - so you won't usually have as big of a problem with the stroller, etc.

Hmm - that's a good point.
Now, which loops DO have cabins?

I put a courtesy hold on a cabin - so I have a little time to make up my mind for certain. But, it would save us about $120 off the total price by getting the free dining package (versus budgeting $150 per day for meals, like we usually do, and getting the EXI AP rate at the cabins).

So, anyway - tell me more about the transportation between the values and the cabins. We love the boat to MK because we don't have to fold the strollers.

OH - do the busses take you right to the front of the ticket center entrance at MK or does it just take you to the transportation center?

We stayed in the cabins and loved the peace and quiet. We used the kitchen mostly for breakfast, very convenient. Even if you're on the dining plan you may find it's worth it to have breakfast before you head out. I don't remember waiting long for either the FW or park busses, we didn't get a golf cart (had one stroller to deal with.) We were on the 2500 loop- close to a bus stop & the pool.

This trip we've opted for two rooms at Pop instead, mostly because the kids are older and two bathrooms will come in handy! We also don't plan to spend as much time in the room this time, no need for afternoon naps (except maybe for me!!)

I'd stay in the cabins again, though, definitely.

We had booked 2 rooms also but after I added up everything and did some searching we changed our plans and booked the Cabins.Im keeping my fingers crossed but Im sure were going to love it just as much.

Okay, I'm wishy washy. I switched to two connecting rooms.

I opted to "upgrade" to the preferred building. The only value for our dates was Sports, so I wanted to at least find SOMETHING girly - and low and behold - SURFING! :)

So, we've got two, connecting rooms for four nights (we will catch an early flight Saturday morning so we can hit the parks right away....then check out on Wednesday morning and stay as late as possible). Hopefully with the F&WF at Epcot, which we will pay for out of pocket, we'll have enough free meals for the "extra" time we'll be spending at the parks (we have APs).

It all came down to the walking, really - and hopefully in a preferred building we'll be close to the bus stop. (and the "storm in a cabin" issue...and two potties for a family of 6) :)

Ahh - maybe cabins next time. OR something even BETTER! :) LOL
